Write the reason you're deleting this FAQ
The reason I ask this question is because I have started cross posting my content from my mommy blog to Medium and the plugin that is used to do this by Medium ensures that the SEO is good by using canonical links.
I don't 100% understand how that all works?
The reason I want to know is that I am interested in cross posting some of the content from some of my other blogs to my mommy blog and then also have that cross posted to Medium.
If I add the original content's url into my SEO plugin as the canonical link would that be sufficient to ensure good seo? So the Medium blog would point to my mommy blog and in turn my mommy blog would point to my other blog...
Any thoughts on this please?

Back before the canonical URL, Search Engines used to find it problematic to know the original source that content belongs to. Especially when one piece of content can have multiple different URLs.
As an example say you have http://www.yoursite.com/a-web-page.html
And you could also access that page with the URL http://www.yoursite.com/a-web-page.html?parameter=1
The Search Engines would think that the other URL is a different page. But they're not. They're the same page. But they just have different URLs.
So the canonical URL was released so that a webmaster could specify which URL is the main or preferred URL for that web page.
So that's basically the canonical URL, why we have it and how it's used.
