Today Freelancers, I'll share something special with you. The reasons I believe freelancing is like building a house. Yes! A real house.
First of all, you'll need to scout for good and proper areas and locations to build on. And once you find it, you'll build the construction foundation.

The construction foundation must be of extremely good and high quality, as it needs to be able to withstand a lot of pressure. (Walls, roof, floor and everything inside the house.)
When the construction foundation is in place, you'll now be able to put up walls. Like anything building related, this also requires a lot of effort.

When you finally managed to build all the walls, you'll be able to build the roof and all the inner walls.

Before you know it, after all hours of hard work and heavy lifting. This is what you'll end up with. Your home. The place where you'll eat, sleep and live for many years to come!

And how does this relates to Freelancing business?
Honestly speaking, I shouldn't have to mention this. You should be able to see the similarity.
A freelancing business might take years to mold into something unique, something beneficial and something you'll be satisfied and proud of. - But it's usually worth it.
You need to establish good relations, both with clients and/or partners or co-workers. You need to reach out to others for help and you need recommendations and reviews as mouth to mouth is the best way of generating more sales. and more importantly, be honest and make sure you're trustworthy.
That being said, start building your own home today!

I know that sounds soppy lol but it's true! Anyone can build a house! But it's not as easy to build and maintain a home within that house. As anyone with only a small family in a small or large house will tell you! And that can be applied directly to freelancing as well. For that home to be a fully functioning and productive home, whether it's the kids going to school and not skiving off, or the adults going to work and paying the bills. For that home to be a happy and healthy home, everyone needs to play their part and do their role and learn to pull their own weight! And it's the same for freelancing as a career as well. You know, some days it might be raining but you've missed the bus and have to walk to school or to work. If you don't do these things you wont get an education in order to find work to be able to support yourself and have your own kids and buy your own house and car and stuff. And if you understand that simple concept from an early age in both your real life, and in your freelancing career you'll go far if you stick to the plan! If you set and have dreams or goals and targets to hit. If you apply yourself and are dedicated and determined to reaching and achieving those things. Then the house and home could be a fully functioning and self proficient happy house and home. Or freelancing career depending which way you look at it! Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I tell my clients all the time that SEO is also like building a house. I'll tell them that it isn't an over night type of thing and will take time to do it right. The final results are better if the work is not rushed
I've had plenty of clients over the years and each one of them who signs up for my bigger packages signs something saying they understand what they're buying and how long it could take to see good results. Almost every single time I'll get an email or phone call a month or two into the SEO campaign and they are complaining about not having more sales and their ROI isn't positive. I always use the "building a house" explanation and it takes time. I'll tell them that we have to get a good amount of base links (the foundation) and then we can build onto those (the walls).
One of my past clients was paying me around $1,500 a month and was on a 1 year contract. He started complaining after about 2 weeks and I gave him the "building a house" explanation. It seemed like he understood what was going on after that and he didn't contact me for another 2 weeks. After the second phone call he told me that he's breaking the contract because I wasn't providing any type of results, but I was because I had been tracking every single keyword I could think of that was related to his website lol. He got a lawyer, I got a lawyer, and in the end he had to pay for 6 months up front in order for me to break the contract lmao
Things take time, if you rush the work, it will usually turn out bad. This goes for SEO and pretty much anything that goes along with being a freelancer. Do the best work you possibly can and your dedication will pay off in the end because you'll be building a constant stream of return clients and they will even refer you to their friends and colleagues
