    I find that dofollow signature links on forums, with keywords as anchor is one of the most effect method of ranking on a specific keyword.

    I think it's content and article marketing, social bookmarking and social networking. There could be new ways to do it (i.e., guest posting). But these things have done a good job, though not as potent as they used to be.

    Based on the majority of discussions that I had read about link building, it is safe to do it the manual way by posting on popular sites and also on authority sites. My best bet is commenting on a blog particularly of bloggers with thousands of regular readers. The backlink that you leave there will be of good quality and your site will tend to have a good ranking in the search engine’s results.
