Did you ever have a Pager or Beeper? Or one of these..

Was you one of the lucky ones that had a Pager?

Or sometimes called a Beeper.

Or are you sitting there asking yourself, what's a Pager? What's a Beeper?

Pagers paved the way for mobile phones and the smartphone of today!

So if you ever had one of these and managed your life on it.

Yeah you laugh now! But if it wasn't for that it wouldn't be for this..

And if it wasn't for that, we wouldn't have this..

Or this..

Okay I know some of those are only concepts but they all wouldn't be if it wasn't for the Pager!

Also if you ever done any work on something like this..

I know where's the screen right!? That's a Smith Corona XE 5200 Word Processor.

You can laugh at it's primitiveness, but if it wasn't for that we wouldn't have this/these...

Yeah I know they added a screen clever right?

Is coming because of it! Plus look they still have cookies too!

So if you ever used a Pager (Beeper) or Word Processor. I got respect for you.

If it wasn't for these, we wouldn't have what we have today. Obviously.

Oh my gosh, I have not seen a beeper since the 90s! I never had a beeper or pager but I remember my uncle having one and thinking how cool it was! You are totally right, it has paved the way for the smartphone technology today.

I can actually remember those word processors....what about type writers??? I remember one summer having to use my grandmother's typewriter for my summer reading essays because she didn't have an IBM computer! How crazy!!! It was definitely something special though because alot of people my age probably never got that kind of experience.

I was born a little late to own a pager or beeper. I know of people who had them, but they were a few years older than me. When I was growing up, the big brick cell phones were just starting to come out and that was just after beepers and pagers

Whenever I saw someone with a pager or beeper I always thought they were a drug dealer haha. I was always like "Oh man, he's selling drugs because he's got a beeper. He must be getting pages from people wanting to buy dope!" and in reality it was probably his mom paging him because dinner was done

This is the same reason I thought my cousin was a drug dealer but in reality he just had diabetes and was on a transplant list and had to carry the beeper around all day in case he got paged from a certain number to notify him he was getting a transplant.

So many people had pages or beepers when I was younger. I wasn't old enough, probably not cool enough, to own a pager or beeper. I also grew up pretty poor so asking my mom for a pager or beeper probably would have earned me a smack across the back of my head.

The price of pages or beepers was pretty insane. I don't remember the exact price, I just remember when I first saw the price I was in disbelief. These were basically a piece of hardware that notified you when someone wanted to call you and you had to go home or to a pay phone to call them back. Now we look back at these and they look ancient, but when I was little they were amazing

I was very young when the pagers or beepers were around. I remember my mother having one, and always frantically going to a pay phone to call whomever beeped or paged her. That was when the pay phone was popular, and there would be people in line waiting to use it.

Yeah, those times when the beepers would go off but there would be no pay phone for miles..

I honestly thought beepers or pagers or whatever else you'd like to call them were very annoying. I didn't like to the beepy tone of them, it drove me insane.

I never had a pager but my dad used to have one and I remember I used to love it when it beeped. You are quite right, pagers were the primitive form of the mobile phones we got to have today. Back then they were just great, and I also think that word processors were really awesome at the time. We cannot make fun of older gadgets because they were the stepping stones for the gadgets that we use nowadays. It is all a matter of time after all!

Oh my gosh, this is seriously bringing back some old memories! Yes I remember beepers, but I never had one I was too young at the time. I do remember them featuring in movies a lot.

I remember my dad coming home with the latest technology, a brick mobile phone that was so big you probably needed both hands for lol. We also had a home computer and we were one of the first people in our neighborhood to have internet at home. Dial up modem of course.

Times change so fast now. I first got an ipad when my daughter was 18 months old. She figured it out faster than me.

It is amazing how times and technology is changing so fast now. I am now in the older generation where my kids (yes 2 and 4 years old) roll their eyes at me already. Oh dear....

I once had a pager. That was when I was a student. However, soon I stopped the service because the monthly bill was beyond my budget. I wanted a mobile phone, but it was very expensive back then, therefore, I ended up having a pager. It was alpha numeric pager and I could receive alphanumeric messages.

In 1994 when we had a computer supplies retailing business, we bought a pager when we moved to an apartment with no phone. The Beeper 150 was our only connection to our clients. They would send us a message and our sales people would try to find a phone to call the client that usually the message was about an order. I don’t remember the cost of the page but it was expensive much more that we had to pay a monthly subscription. But the pager did not last long when the cellphones became cheaper in 1996.
