What are the best ways to get backlinks to my website?

I am new to internet and affiliate marketing, but I have this great plan I'm working on. The only problem is that I can't seem to find a good way to add backlinks to my website. Is there a program or something out there that does this for me?

Mostly good advice here:
1. Forget about "1000 links for $20" deals. Besides being low quality links, and maybe nofollow, a blast of links looks unnatural to search engines if you're not already accruing them regularly. 2. If you contract the service, choose carefully. 3. Do it yourself, everyday, by posting on dofollow blogs and in forums. This gradual method is the most natural and easiest. 4. I would add wat nobody else has said. First make sure your site has good SEO. Then, you will know what keywords to link with when you do post links in those blogs, forums, articles, etc.

A simple google search will give you a list of backlink building programs. These are free as well as premium. These programs will automatically build backlinks.
However, many people frown upon the idea of using automated tools to backlink. If you are one of them, try to create backlinks from forum signatures, blog comment and social book marking sites.

Thanks to those who responded in this discussion because I am getting more confused as I learn more about backlinks. I know that there are programs or software that can help you in building your backlinks but my take on that issue is the manual way of scattering or planting your backlinks in the internet. Post your backlinks in several websites that are very popular and you have quality backlinks that will give you traffic more than the backlinks that you had posted in ordinary websites.
