In a digital world, business cards get looked over, but they can still be a very powerful thing to have on you at all times. You never know when you're going to have a conversation with someone and their interest peaks because of what you're saying, then they ask "Do you have a card I can hold on to?" and if you don't, you likely just lost a customer because they won't remember the important details like your website URL and sometimes your name. If you would have just taken the time to get some business cards printed up, you would have turned that friendly conversation with a stranger into a profitable time investment 
Business cards aren't tricky at all, you just have to get your basic information on there like your name, email, business name, address (if you have one) and a phone number. You're handing out a small little card that has multiple options of contacting you if someone wants, that's all it is, and it shouldn't be seen as a daunting task when you want to get one designed and printed.
There are plenty of companies that revolve around printing promotional material like this for people, and a good one that I use frequently is VistaPrint because they have a lot of great deals for a massive amount of business cards. In this discussion I'll be going over the power of a well designed business card, so lets get started!
You will be seen as an authority
A good business card goes a long way, especially if it's designed well, because people will begin to see you as an authority. You will stand out from the crowd of business cards and people will see yours if before your competitors if they recieved a bunch at one time. People are use to getting the basic business card with your name, email, and phone number on it, which basically says "I printed these up and I have no imagination at all".
If your business card seems to have taken time to design and is higher quality than most of the people around you, you'll be seen as more of an authority even though it's just a little card with some information on it
A good design sets you apart from pre-made ones
There are thousands of pre-made designs out there, and they're pretty easy to pick out of a crowd. Usually they have basic stock images on them and your contact information is always in the same spot, BORING! Take your time and work on your own design or have someone do it for you. There are plenty of amazing designers here that can knock out a mezmerizing design in a few hours, and they'll likely charge you a few bucks for something that could increase your sales exponentially
When someone hands me a business card that has their information on it but the design is all white with a slight blue line around the boarder, I think they work for the government or own a funeral home. I don't wnat to be handed a card by either of those types of people, so you should probably go over your design and spend a few bucks on one that will set you apart from the CIA and a funeral parlor lol.
More professional than giving someone your email
There have actually been commercials where people give out their emails and the client thinks "Is this for real?". Professionals don't give out [email protected] on a piece of paper, they give out great looking business cards because they are running, or working, for a business. Sure, your email will likely be on the card, but that's just one of the many ways someone can contact you if they really wanted.
If you're just starting out and you don't know if you should get business cards, GET BUSINESS CARDS! They will be a small investment that are easily covered after the first job you land. Think about it, if you were to go to an event and hand out 500 high quality business cards, you'll stand out in a sea of boring cards that were printed up for the same reason. You'll more than likely land a few leads and that will be more than enough to cover the initial investment the cards took to get made. If you were handing out your email to everyone you talked to, you likely wouldn't get a single phone call the next day lol.
Increase your chances of landing bigger sales
A good looking business card that is done properly is going to catch you a bigger fish all of the time. Sure, you may throw 499 cards at small fish and hope they work with you, but that 1 card out of the 500 could actually be a monster sized whale and want to work with you solely on how you designed your card. They will see that you took your time to wok on the design and choose out the paper, or plastic, the card is printed on and they will think "If they were this dedicated to designing a great looking business card, I'm sure they will be dedicated when working with me".
Business owners who run multi-million dollar corporations are use to handing out business cards and receiving them as well. I'm sure that 99% of the time they get a card it goes in their pocket and then in the first trash can they pass by throughout the day. If you have a card that stands out, you will likely peak their interest and they might put your card in their wallet.

If you see a business owner put your card in their wallet, they are likely going to look it over a second time because you peaked their interest. If they just hold onto it throughout your conversation and then you part ways, it's likely going in the garbage can.
So, increase your chances of getting your business card in the wallet of a whale by having a card that stands out and actually impresses them when they see it

A business card is like a website, you should take your time designing it and be sure that it is eye catching as well as professional at the same time. You usually have something on your website that sets you apart from your competition, so carry that idea over to your business cards and stand out! Business cards are more than just a little bit of information about yourself and how to contact you, they are little images of how you want to be seen. If you have a high quality business card that stands out from the crowd, you will almost always win over someone who has a bland card. It doesn't matter about your reviews online because most of the time the person who is receiving the card won't get that far if it's an ugly design lol.
