I am busy working on building up my Youtube channel and I was just wondering if purchasing backlinks to videos would build up my channel or not?
I am buying packages to rank my videos from my new favorite social media freelancer (yes you Mike) but I am just wondering what else I can do to build up this channel?
I’ve got my Youtube SEO sorted, I know how to SEO my actual videos quite well, most of them rank on the first page of Youtube and a lot of them are #1 on Youtube already.
I just want some more ideas on how to juice up my videos at a low cost.

Well what you have to realize is, a YouTube video is a webpage on the Internet like any other really. It has text on the page with your content (keywords) in it as well as your links, and of course, it has a video on it as well. And like any webpage on the Internet, be it a social profile or your own website, you'll need to do both on-page SEO and off-page SEO to it to help it have a fighting chance of ranking high. That means building high quality backlinks to it. And the more related to that video those backlinks are the better!

Now in answer to your question: yes! :D Well what you have to realize is, a YouTube video is a webpage on the Internet like any other really. So if you have a video about let's say, drink and drug abuse, then you would want to build links to it from sites, blogs, forums etc that are about drinking and drug abuse. Fortunately, it's not too hard to find them! For forums just do a Google search for "[b]drink drug abuse forums[/b]" and to find blogs do the same but with "[b]drink and drug abuse blog[/b]". Then of course, you would have to go about getting on those forums, creating an account and then participating and engaging in those forums and occasionally dropping (or embedding) the video into your posts. You could say something like "[b]Hi there, great story thanks for sharing. Yadda yadda, here's a video that might help yadda yadda[/b]".
As for blogs, you'd just comment on them and instead of linking to your own blog, you'd like to the YouTube video itself. A lot of bloggers wont mind publishing your comment if it has a YouTube video link in it as YouTube is a high authority site and especially if that video is related to that blog in some way.
So there's two ways to juice up your videos a bit more using related forums and blogs.
And that doesn't cost anything. If you do it yourself of course. :)

I don't know exactly if that means you will also rank better internally, like in Google's internal search results, but nevertheless building links can benefit a lot in the long run.
Since we are talking about Youtube here, I wonder if you can get penalized by using black hat methods, I think it would be pretty hard to get a youtube link penalised by Google, lol. Yes, it will help a lot from an organic point of view, meaning you'll be listed in the search result pages for your keywords and people will end up watching your youtube videos from search engines like Google. I don't know exactly if that means you will also rank better internally, like in Google's internal search results, but nevertheless building links can benefit a lot in the long run.
