What is broken link tell me explan

Broken link was creating website errors its was create a links don't open link and open after showing 404 that's it broken link. How can I find all broken links?

Well a broken link is just that. It's a link that's broken and no longer works. This could either be because the page where the link was pointing to doesn't exist anymore or has moved. There are other reasons but that is the main one. Other reasons include;

You have entered an incorrect URL or an incorrect URL was given to you.
The links destination page has been removed (404).
The site itself has gone down or no longer exists.
There is some software or firewall that is blocking access to that page/site.
Outside access to it has been disabled/blocked.

How can I find all broken links

There are a number of ways of doing that. The first is by doing it manually yourself and keeping a record of all the broken links you find. The second is by using some dedicated broken link checking software or tool or even online site that does it.

Such free online site tools include;

Other ways of doing it is by using Google Search Console. When Google encounters broken links on your site, (crawl errors) you’ll be notified through the Search Console dashboard.

There are also some Windows software tools as well. Just Google "Windows broken link checker".

Mike thank you for all these great tools and ways to check for broken links. What I want to know is what to do with a broken link?

I have to remove some content from one of my websites, so what do I do with all those links that will then be broken?

Welcome Lynne. Basically, either fix them or remove them pretty much. Although "fixing them" could be done in a number of ways and it depends on which way the link is broken. If the page itself is missing, it's not the link that is broken so much as the page the link was linking to doesn't exist anymore. Which is usually the case. So what you could do here is simply change the old link so that it's pointing to an up and working page. Another thing you could though is set up a redirect so that any 404's redirect to a similar post/page on your site. If you're using WordPress, this does this automatically for you. This feature was built in to reduce 404 pages from showing but it's not flawless. It will often just redirect to a post/page that has the same words in the title or URL that the old one did. I don't think 404's are that bad. But it depends what's shown on the 404 page. Sometimes they might just say something like "Oops that page wasn't found". Which isn't really helpful. A good 404 page will/should include a sitemap and a search box as well as links to some possibly related sources that the searcher was looking for. Thats a smart 404 page!

How can I find all broken links?

Well you have a couple options:

Restore the page and its content;
Redirect 301 to a similar type of content
Redirect 302 (temporary redirect) thought I can't see any benefits with this one because it doesn't transfer link authority.
Implement a 410 which tells search engines that the content is not longer available and forever gone.

Also, talking about broken links, there is a link building method called broken link method. You basically crawl people's websites looking for a broken link, if you already have similar content published you can contact them to replace then broken link with your link. Pretty great method, happens to work.
