Setting up a free blog is something I never recommend to my clients or friends who are wanting to get online to share information and hopefully crack into a niche to make some money. Platforms like Blogger, while they're technically "FREE" they can actually cost you a good amount of money in the long run and make you a very angry person.
The top 3 reasons you shouldn't use a free blogging platform
Hmmm, maybe my research was a bit out of date. I haven't used free blogging platforms for a while now because of they weren't very user friendly and the platforms basically saw you as someone who was posting content, not someone who was running a blog/website. In this post I was basically typing up what I've experienced and some bad features that I've noticed. I've seen things where people can still get into blogger sites that aren't their own, but it's more rare now that there is recaptcha out. It's just a bit harder to crack and takes a little more hands on approach to do so lol :D

Actually Raz, Blogger has a system in place that prevents brute force passwording. So if they are entering an incorrect password too many times it will just lock them out completely and ban their IP address so they can't get in. For someone to do that they would need to try it millions of times and spend as much in proxies. And to access someone's Blogger blog it wouldn't really be worth it. Also the username (author name) you use on Blogger, isn't the username you login to your Google account with. You login to your Google account with an email address and not a username. Although you can still do this if your account was set up like that. But to sign into Blogger, one must first sign in to Google.
As far as I know, and from my own experience. The only Blogger blogs that actually get shut down are either the ones that are hosting some illegal files like cracks, keygens, wares etc etc. And those that are too commercial in nature. If your Blogger blog is a commercial blogger blog that is packed full of affiliate links and banners (and not Adsense) and it's getting a lot of traffic, they will shut that blog down simply because it's not making them any money. If you are using Adsense on it they will be less likely to shut it down but they can still do so if they don't think the content on that blog is good content, is copied, plagiarized, low quality content etc. But even then, you are right, and they can decide to pull the plug on you at any moment and there is nothing you can do about that.
Not sure what you mean by "You don't really have 100% control over what you post." Why wouldn't I have control over what I post? And you can place ads in any spot in your content using the pre designed templates and widgets to choose where you want the ads to be. Are you sure you've thought this through properly Raz? This isn't the usual accurate sort of stuff I see you post. Usually you're content on the CD is spot on, up to date and accurate. But this looks like an old article from a long time ago or something?
Anyway, regardless, most of what you say is true. However, that doesn't mean that you shouldn't make good use of them! They are free and they are high authority blogs and they can be used for personal or business blogging reasons. For building contextual do follow links to your site. For building brand awareness and increasing the rank and traffic to your site. Sure they can pull them down at any moment. But that's why you use them with a pinch of salt. And oh, always back up the content you put on them! Because if and when they do pull them, you'll loose all that content. So keep a backup of it so you can put it up somewhere else after.
