    There isn't a much difference..
    White hat just means building proper backlinks without using any illegal or mass software..
    Black hat just means using a mass commenter or any software to get the backlinks..
    That is the difference i only know..there maybe more..

    It doesn't just encompass link building. Mainly it's hacking and money making.

    Blackhat is anything that breaks the law.
    Greyhat are things which break rules but have little or no effect on the organisation.
    Whitehat is the good guys sort of thing.

    Doing black hat does not break any laws! Not in any country's legal law of the land anyway. It's not against anything so to speak. It's not illegal in that you can be arrested for it! But Google is against blackhat methods that are done to try and artificially inflate the Google SERP ranking positions. And your website can receive a penalty for that! So don't do it! Besides, it can provide a quick ranking but after Google finds out it will slap a penalty on it and that might not always be easy to remove and they might not remove it following a manual reconsideration request either. That's why it's always best to do white hat SEO which is much better, penalty free and lasts forever without causing any problems.

    1- White Hat SEO (google prefers white hat seo)

    2- Back hat SEO (it's a type of seo which is conducted by boots, not search engine spiders friendly) results are great but they are not long lasting.. Also google doesn't supports black hat seo

    I think black hat and white hat are terms that were invented to differentiate a legitimate method of SEO from the illegal method. The legitimate methods are adding the right amount of keywords on the web page and posting backlinks on selected sites. The opposite of those activities will constitute a black hat method that can pull down the ranking of the site in the search list.
