Write the reason you're deleting this FAQ
Following on earlier from that guys thread asking how to advertise his service in the community discussion. Possibly because the forum has been removed now along with his thread that he used to advertise his service.
So would it be a good idea to let members get 1 cd post to advertise their services in the same way as they used to on the forum? They could have a new category for them not sure what you'd call it but it could have the same rules the old forum one did except it wouldn't get bumped and not sure what you'd call that category but yeah might make those users happy that had that option/benefit on the forum but don't anymore.
I know it's only really him and a couple other people that have asked about that now and possibly other people may ask in the future too. For those that used to use the member service advertisement category on the forum anyway.
- What do you think? Good idea? Bad idea?
- Would it defeat the purpose have having a valuable bank of content on the FAQ?
- Do you think it would have to be policed more than any other category?
- Would people try to abuse it?
- What could be the pros and cons of it?
- What about yourself as a seller, would you like this appreciate it?
- Would you use it responsibly?
My thinking is that this could PROMOTE usage of the FAQ and encourage people to visit it more.
The flip side is it could result in distracting what the FAQ is about? But they would all be in their own category anyway so not really?
Anyway, I'm just "throwing this out there" see who catches it.

That is different though because the seller is providing something of value to everyone and in return gaining exposure for that value.
At the same time though if a seller posted great tutorials here I would firstly make the assumption that they know a lot about the subject and most likely offer great services in that line. If I am interested in the tutorial I would most likely be interested in related services. Which would make me inclined to click through and have a look at the sellers profile and services anyway.
So maybe they should not be allowed to advertise there either. I can guarantee you that if they post good tutorials that sellers will check them out anyway.

Basically the idea of the community discussions, not FAQ is to have marketplace users discuss topics surrounding SEO, other website related things, and a bunch of other stuff as well. Having the community discussions opened up to service advertisements doesn't, to me, sound very appealing. It opens the flood gates to lethal spammers whom have nothing better to do than to spam their services, and turn the community discussions into a community classifieds. However, you could create a new discussion for a community classifieds section of some sorts, this hasn't been thought of yet ... i don't believe.
Now, im not saying no this isnt going to happen, i just know from past experience that this wont happen.. it only takes one user to spoil it for the rest. :(

I'm talking about real experts creating real valuable high quality content that discusses what they're selling, talks about problems that other people might have and then provide the solutions to those problems with their services. Plus having some filter rules in place from the start and some minimum requirements to be able to submit to it anyway. Thus making sure there are no rubbish thin content ads in that category. So with this in place, it couldn't be abused. I think the benefits would far far outweigh the costs. I do value your feedback but I think you're getting the wrong idea of what it would be like this time and thinking it would be like it was on the forum. I'm going to post something about it soon.

Lynn I get your point and I agree. But I'm not talking about how it used to be on the forum. The forum used to be a free-for-all where anyone could create a service and it would be auto approved and be instantly live on the site. I'm talking about high quality service threads for esteemed, prestigious best sellers only. Like Level 3 or Level X sellers [u]only[/u]. And also setting some [b]filter control rules[/b] from the start like a minimum amount of words and all unique images and only high quality, good looking sells pages only. Plus it would be in it's own category and you could stop them from showing on the FAQ homepage as well.
After all, the idea behind the FAQ was to create a good quality bank of content and bring in people from the outside too. If they had their own category for it and it was moderated (as all submissions are) so that only high quality, good looking service advertisements got through only, it would mean that they wouldn't be low quality, spammy like threads and only be high quality threads that had actual value to them and increases sales on the site and also interest in the FAQ from the outsiders as well as, promote usage of the FAQ by those big sellers on the site that are big sellers right now but aren't using the FAQ right now. It would get them on the FAQ and using it more and also help to pull in new people from outside as well.
It would have to be more than just an advertisement of their services though. I propose that they take a different spin on it and come at it at a different angle to just advertising their service. But rather, place some kind of article about a problem and then provide the solution by way of their service. That way it would mean their FAQ wasn't just some cheap, low quality spam like thread the forum used to have and actually be a valuable thread in the FAQ that could have a lot of benefits both for sellers and outsiders to SEOClerks too. You see? :)
