Backlinks are known to be an important factor for SEO, and many try to build backlinks. But here I would like to discuss how you can earn them instead. Or, another way to word it, does your website deserve backlinks? I believe that as long as your site is user-centric, then you can expect happy users who are willing to form part of your marketing, sometimes without them realizing it. They will be happy to share your content, return to your site and help you to get backlinks. So focus on content that pleases the user, is well researched and has a certain depth and value.

On each new post there should be a set of social sharing buttons so anyone can share the content from your pages. This will entice your traffic to share a post they like on their facebook profile, google plus page, twitter profile, website, blog, email it to people, etc. This is a pretty common practice and I can see people getting blind to these types of sharing options since almost every blog now has them as a standard.
The best way to get people to share is to offer them something in return. If they are a writer for your website or blog, give them additional points that will help rank them up in order to get access to more posting features. Give them pretty little badges on their signature and profile after they hit XX amount of points, and the only way to gain points is to be active on the blog or website and share the content they are writing.
A neat little trick is to have a big drop down that tells them to share the recent post as soon as they click "Post" or "Submit" or whatever your "Enter" icon/button says. This will get you more shares and if you are giving bonuses per share, you will see an increase in natural links this way

Razzy A really great way to generate natural links is to open your site up so people can post their own content, case studies and reviews. This could also back fire because people will just place links inside their content on your website in order to gain a backlink from your website. But don't worry, you can just make all the links nofollow, or even easier, you can make it so that links cannot be placed within content.
