    Seo has always been the same old or new! Quality content and quality backlinks. Old seo used to be about on page Meta tags, keyword density and all that bullshit but that is irrelevant now! I have a client that insists on 6% keyword density and i sit there and chuckle to myself about all the money he's wasting on this very old technique!

    Content is still king, that has never changed. Relevant high PR manually built backlinks are also a tried and true method regardless of which google update we are on

    To be fair, this isn't a bad question and one that gets asked from time to time by people who want to know. It is one that has been expanded on and discussed to great length on SEO blogs and forums and the like. But I feel I must pick you up on something. Old SEO has never been about simply submitting to places as fast as you can like article and directory sites, that has never produced results that lasted. You might have got a boost for a while but then eventually it would backfire on you and your site would get a penalty. Obviously not so much before all the Google algorithms happened and were released upon the Internet to combat webs spam like that. What it has always been about for smart webmasters and marketers is to build only high quality links that count. Links from quality sites not tons of links from sites that are low quality content farms that have content on them that is highly spun and just a load of nonsensical rubbish. That has applied since the first day of the Internet and still applies today and will be the back bone of any successful SEO campaign. What is the basic difference between old, new method of SEO?

    Aren't you a SEO expert and you should know that? "I am an SEO expert" is in your description.

    New and old SEO are mostly marketing trick for people to sell you their super duper methods, claiming "old" SEO doesn't work any more. Most of "old SEO" works the same as it did, although "new SEO" will focus much more on social signs.

    I am new in the SEO industry and currently a learner so I have no experience with the old methods of SEO. But with the new methods I guess the backlink is the most popular because there is a big majority of discussions in this forum that is about backlinks. But it is not easy to post a backlink to a site because you have to be discerning so that your backlink will be considered quality backlink.
