    On the contrary that backlinks will only work if your web pages are current which means you have a fresh content. Remember that content is king all the time so it should be the first priority when it comes to SEO methods. Without new contents your site may be ignored by the crawlers and therefore may not be considered for the inclusion to the search list. To be on the safe side make sure your site has fresh contents from time to time.

    To get links from aged sites that are in the same niche as yours! That is the holy grail of SEO and they are usually the hardest kind of links to get because mostly these will be your competitors sites and they aren't going to want to link to your site and help you out. Not for free anyway! But they are not impossible to get either if you put your mind to it. There are tons of ways to find related backlinks. You can find forums related to your niche and those will count as related links. You can find blogs in your niche and comment on them and they will to even if they're no follow. But of course, you will only want to use the best of the best and not think quantity but rather quality.

    If what you mean is the methods to increase your rank in the SEO rankings, my take is the contents. As the saying goes, content is king and that is true even in SEO. The more new contents, the better for your SEO ranking. However, the contents you put in should be unique and better if original. It should also be relevant to your niche and with substance which means you have information to share. I have seen some contents with no meaning at all, maybe just for the sake of having contents. That one is a taboo for the SEO because the nonsense can be detected.
