How Search Engine extracts Keywords from Domain Names?

I have read that Keyword rich domains are Search Engine Optimized. But how does Search Engine extract Keywords from Domain Names?

1. If I have a domain name: mangorange.tld will it know that the keywords are 'mango' and 'orange'? Or, will I have to choose mangoorange.tld

2. Will understand that by using subdomain pin.eapple.tld I am wanting it to extract 'pineapple' keyword?

1. If you need to show both keywords in the same query then you should go for mangoorange.tld
ex: search query>> mango orange then mangoorange.tld
If you need to show only one keywordin the query then you can go for mangorange.tld
ex: search query>> mango then mangorange.tld
search query>> orange then mangorange.tld
However, the most recommended tld for your question is mangoorange.tld because the other domain will not rank high for the search queries susch as "mango orange", "orange mango"

2. No. Current Google's algorithm will not understand the keyword; pineapple from the subdomain pin.eapple.tld
So if you need to make google understand that keyword; go for domains/subdomains such as pineapple.tld or pineapple.yourdomain.tld
