Of course it does help because the links you've posted on your social media platforms would funnel in some traffic in your website. It helps in traffic building, engagements and ultimately may result into conversions.

Social media profile links do not have anything to do with link building. However, social media engagements might send social signals which help in SEO. SEO and SMO (social media optimization) are two different things. Both of these traffic generating techniques help a site, but they work differently. When you do SEO, you optimize your site with keywords, and when you are doing SMO, you optimize your social media sites and share your links to generate traffic and drive sales.
