    Does it matter if you have many backlinks to a website? Or it is okay if you have few backlinks provided they are all high PR?

    Depends on the quality of the backlinks. Quantity never matters. Basically if you've quality backlinks, it helps you boost your PR.

    Having many backlinks is great but if they are not great quality they will not always helps you. It's best to have few and quality back links for a website.

    More backlinks do not mean better ranking and traffic. More backlinks will not help you but few quality backlinks do. If your site is backlinked to inferior sites, illegal sites, sites with low ranks than yours will eventually harm your website. However, if you manage to get backlinks from trusted sites, high authority sites, sites ranked higher than yours, overall rank of your website will be imporved.

    There is this thing called quality backlinks. They are your website’s link that you have posted in popular sites. Think if you will post your link on a forum that has thousands of active members. There is a higher probability that your backlink will produce traffic. On the other hand if you post your backlink on an obscure website then you get no traffic from that. It is better to have just a few backlinks but high quality for purposes of getting traffic to your website.
