If you have too many backlinks then I guess your website has greater opportunity for getting traffic from those backlinks. However, the backlinks depend on the quality too like if you had your backlinks posted on obscure sites then that may not be that effective in getting traffic while a few backlinks posted on popular sites can get more traffic simply because of the potential users that will click on your backlink.
