When a person lands on your website, they got there because they thought you had something they could benefit from, but if you have a few things wrong with your website you will notice your bounce rate starting to skyrocket. People will come to your website for it's content, but if your design is off or your content is always pitchy, they will leave quicker than they can finish a page of yours. There are many things you need to do in order to increase your conversions, but keeping people on your website should be the first thing you focus on if you actually want to make money lol.
People think that your website should be the greatest thing they've seen that day, so try to do everything you can in order to give them that, and they will reward you somehow. They could purchase from you, or they could share your content for someone else to come in and possibly make a purchase. You'll never know how high your success can go if you're just annoying your visitors every time they stumble across your website, so follow these 4 things and boost your websites greatness!
Easy navigation so they know where everything is
When you get someone to your website, they will want to see that they can get to every single page they want to, and that means your navigation must be set up perfectly. If your navigation is wonky, your traffic will begin to fall off and your sales will begin to slip. If you haven't had a good navigation set up from the start, you really don't know how good it can get, so go through your website and make sure everything is perfect.
If you think everything is set up just right, ask someone that isn't in the website and SEO industry, and ask them to go through your website and write down things they think needs to be fixed. If they say anything about your website being difficult to search through, you need to fix your navigation 
Great content that doesn't always pitch them a product or service
If you're writing up amazing content, don't ruin it wil pitches left and right, because that's a quick way to lose your credibility. If you want to be the authority within you niche, publish amazing content that is second to none, and your following will reward you will shares as well as increasing your sales. It's not too difficult to write up great content, you don't really need formal training or a degree to do it, just make sure it's readable and provides a great deal of content for the reader to sift through. If people like your tone of voice, within your content, they will likely come back for more
Your content can boost your sales exponentially, so writing the best articles you possibly can will always be beneficial to your and your overall success. Your visitors want to see great content on your blogs or sub pages, that's how they will initially judge you and make a purchasing decision, so take your time writing up high quality content and thank me later
It has to be mobile friendly to keep your smart phone traffic happy
If you're website isn't responsive (mobile friendly) right now, you're going to annoy a lot of your visitors, expecially the ones who are coming to your pages through smart phones lol. Making your pages responsive is a big thing now since the majority of Googles traffic is now coming from people on their phones doing spur of the moment searches looking for answers to their questions.
If you don't know how to make your website response, because you don't know how to code just like me lol, you'll likely have to purchase a WordPress theme that is responsive or bring on a programmer that can make your pages mobile friendly. If your pages aren't mobile friendly, you might as well forget about doing any sort of SEO, because it will only get you to page 2 lol.
An easy checkout process
If someone is coming to your website because they want to make a purchase, they will want to see an easy checkout system, so they can purchase something quickly and be on their way. No one wants to see that you have to register, verify your email, upload an image of yourself, scan in your drivers license, give a blood test, give up your first born, etc. in order to make a purchase.
Sure, you can have them register and enter their email, but you're going to want to stop there since you'll lose a lot of sales if you don't. Think about it, how many times have you wanted to purchase something and it asks you to do 10 things before you sign up? You likely leave the website because it's more of a hassle than you want to go through, and in the end you're not really sure what they are going to do with all the information you're inputting lol.
Make your checkout process simple and quick to boost your sales and overall ROI
In conclusion
People want to have an easy time on your website, and they don't always want to see a pitch when they're trying to read an article, so run your website how you want to browse a strangers site. You don't want to run into a bunch of pitches, affiliate links, pop ups, redirects, etc. so don't do it with your own website. Annoying your visitors is an easy way to kill your sales, so give them everything they want and only do your advertising in a signature link and banner on the side of your pages. Please your visitors, don't annoy them, and your website will thrive
