    View count for Blogspot posts look screwy. HELP!

    Normally, a person would be happy to see this. But I'm baffled. I have a new foodie I started back at the end of 2016. I used the Blogspot platform.

    I was in my dashboard reviewing statistics for more various posts and they looked “reasonable”.

    Then I noticed that one of my posts showed over 27,000 views. Figured it was a fluke!

    But then I noticed various posts show anywhere from 26,000 to 53,000 views.

    One post has 127,000 views!!!!

    How is that possible?  (O.o)


    I want to make sure there isn't a glitch and the numbers are not inflated or “padded” (a word I heard someone else use).

    If these numbers are real, I'm happy!

    But I would love to know what I did to make that happen so I can do it again!  HELP!!

    How do I analyze and verify that my post view counts are accurate?

    Blogpspot's official viewcount has some of the issues. It also counts bots too. I'd usually prefer to use the Google Analytics. And another thing is that blogspot may take time for the views to properly settle too. So depending on where you are viewing the stats there must be some difference. I'd stay with the Google Analytics.

    I'm glad that you recommend Google analytics to the poster in the sense that it is a sure choice when one is in need of checking the real views on a post.

    Yes google analytics is better choice. Also there are HTML widget where the Google analytics code can be added. So it's pretty easy. And I am sure the poster knows how to add the HTML. So I think that's the best way to go. I personally do that myself.

    Yeah, I had never had such a huge number of views but I agree with you that adding the blog link to the Google Analytics is the best way to know the original number of viewers to the blog site. Safe and secure. Never goes wrong.

    Yes. But the thing is that Analytics does not track the bots. And the blogger stats does count bots. So the view count has that difference. The blogger stats are server logs. So they have additional view count for that reason.

    The best place to view your blog activities and the get the right figures is your Google Analytics,I used to notice some inflated figures also on my dashboard but it always different on my Analytics, so if it not from Google then I will say disregard it because it might not add much to your earnings.

    Well, that is interesting it must make you feel very popular. I guess I would just make sure that as the posters told you, you double check the figures with google analytics. Of course it would be awesome if the figures you got were actually true. It would make you very happy I would assume!

    I have used blogspot in the past and I did not realize that the posts count was unrealiable. The best method to determine the traffic (views, device used, traffic location etc.) is google analytics. Link your blog to you google analytic account and see the real views.

    Google Analytics is your only way of knowing what your views are on Blogger.

    Its possible. Blog spot have a feature is that -it does SEO for their users automatically. ON white hat SEO- on page optimization is fully depends on keywords. Your post was SEO keyword based and right keyword based post. SEO keyword based post will generate huge traffic for your post or for your article everyday.

    Thanks everybody for this feedback. I do understand that Blogspot is not a product that was developed by Google but was purchased by Google. I also assume (I don't know for a fact) that Google does not spend a lot of time making this product better. They just keep it “usable”. Nevertheless, it's a free blogging platform and I am grateful for that. Also grateful that Google supplies the Analytics tool to provide the blogger with some insight as to what is coming from where! I will take your advice and will do a thorough review. If these view counts are accurate I'm going to jump for joy!! View count for Blogspot posts look screwy. HELP!

    Though both products are from the same place. Blogger.com was acquired before analytics. And so the anlaytics inside the blogger.com remains from the old company. That part is not changed. And lot of people are still making use of the blogger as it is. So you can use the analytics for accuracy. Though for bot related stats the official stats from the blogger.com is more reliable.

    Thanks for making that distinction" Blogger versus Analytics. I also realize that the Blogger platform is not one of Google's "priority services" so they don't really put a lot of effort into tweaking and improving it. I'm just happy they offer a free blogging platform and I'm sure if I use it properly, I can successfully achieve my work at home goals.

    My suspicion is the bots which gives a screwy number to the views count. I think Google and its other sites are already checking on the traffic that is created by bots and it is adjusting the number when it finds traffic that have no source or origin. But the auditing of the numbers is not a complete procedure yet because the crawlers simply cannot handle the traffic adjustment to all sites.
