Whenever we're doing some marketing, we are hoping that with every link we place we're going to get one of two things. We either want to get some direct traffic from the link we placed or we want to get some higher rankings within the search engines results pages in order to get some traffic that way. What we do this for only has one goal, and that's an increase in sales for the website we're working on, right? Sadly, it doesn't always work out as we planned and we have to continually work on our marketing game plan in order to optimize it so works better every day.
When it comes to marketing, there are good sales copies and there are ones that don't do anything for you at all. The good ones all have a few things in common, but mainly, they're using trigger words to entice you to come to the website and sign up or make a sale. In this discussion we're going to go over 5 of the best 4 letter words that you should be using in some way, shape, or form in order to boost your marketing efforts.
Those words are as follows:
The word "FREE"
We all know what this means, you're basically giving away something for free and people are likely to come to you in droves in order to save some money and get your free product or service. Now, it doesn't really matter what you're giving away for free, as long as it relates to the industry you're in and you're targeting the right people.
Businesses have been using the word free for a very long time. They don't intend on giving away their best products or services, just the things they can afford to lose in order to possibly gain a long time client. Think of it this way, if you were giving away a free piece of Hershey chocolate and a $0.25 piece of fanny may candy, most people would take the Hershey because they don't have to pay for anything.
If you really ant to increase your leads by giving away a free item, make it for a limited time and show a timer that will count down to 0. Once the timer hits 0, your free offer expires and no one can get it again. This will increase your sign ups and sales because you're creating a sense of urgency and people don't want to miss out on anything 
The word "Sale"
Everyone is looking to save some money, so they usually gravitate to the word "Sale" since it means the price of your product or service is a little less than it normally is. You product or service could actually cost twice as much as your competitors, but if you put it on sale you should see a sales increase
Putting something on sale creates a sense of urgency, just like the method I mentioned above where you use a timer, and people usually jump on urgent offers because they don't want to miss out on anything. Psychologists say that when you put something on sale you're actually tapping into the emotions of the potential buyer, increasing their urge to purchase.
It's actually a proven tactic if you use the word "Sale" in your email campaigns as well. Studies show that you usually get an increase in sales by 2% to 3%, which doesn't sound like much, but it can make you a considerable amount of money depending on your product or service. You will need to add the word "Sale" at the end of the subject line, right before the cut off, in order to see the best benefit.
You don't always have to put things on sale, just when you think it's the best time to do so. Also, putting every item or service on your website on sale probably isn't the best thing to do because your visitors won't see an urgency due to everything being reduced.
The word "Fast"
Something free or on sale is good, but fast is just as good or even better! People don't have much time on their hands because we always overwork ourselves or fit too much into our own schedules. This means we don't get much free time to do anything we want. If you use the word "Fast" in your marketing campaigns you will notice that a lot of people will come to your website or store because they know they won't be wasting much time.
Of course, you'll actually have to be fast with your service or whatever you're doing in order to keep the client coming back. Think about it, if a mom of 3 comes to your store and needs something specific done for her, you need to get it done asap in order to keep her happy. She will remember what you did for her and she will likely share her experience with friends and family, potentially increasing your sales from referrals
The word "Easy"
Using the word "Easy" is another psychological effective word because no one wants to be challenged when learning something, doing something, buying something, etc.
Let's say you have a problem on your hands and there are two ways to solve it, both being the correct way, but one has 10 different steps and the other only has 1 step, which one do you think you'd go with? If you didn't pick the single step plan then you're just being difficult on yourself lol. If you're like the rest of the world, you chose the 1 step plan because it will solve your problem with the least amount of steps.
People like taking the easy route, so show them you have that by using the word "Easy". People make complicated decisions all the time, so by using the word "Easy" will reduce the stress they're under because they will know it's actually easy lol.
The word "Best"
One of my favorite words to use is "Best" because it shows you're second to none and your competitors can't even come close to competing with you. I've actually tested this out in PPC ads, banner ads, sales content, and many other marketing forms and every time I do, I see an increase in sales compared the the previous advertising that didn't have the word "Best" in it.
Having the word "best" in your marketing campaign shows you have a much higher quality product or service than what your visitors can find out there, so they shouldn't even try searching because they already found the cream of the crop
In Conclusion
Using any or all of these words in your marketing campaigns or your on page content will likely increase your sales as long as you're using them in the right way. You can't spam the words across your ads or homepage becuase it will just look tacky, you'll still have to place them strategically in order to see the best benefit from them. Get out there and do some split testing to figure out what works best for you, once you figure out the best use of them, scale up your efforts and watch the sales roll in

I could have also added in "Clearance" because it all means you're saving money lol. And for anyone who has kids, we all know they grow like damn trees and if we don't have to invest a ton of money in their clothing, it's a great thing lol.

The only difference is that discount means you're reducing the price of a product while clearance usually means you're discounting the price of an old product you're trying to get rid of. I personally love seeing "clearance" when I'm shopping for my little girl because I can usually find clothes for next year or even some she can wear that day if she really wanted to lol :D And for anyone who has kids, we all know they grow like damn trees and if we don't have to invest a ton of money in their clothing, it's a great thing lol.
You'll definitely need to know how to write if you want to increase your sales with these words. These words can only help your writing out so much, you need to be able to convey why people need to purchase before they decide to open up their checkbooks :D

So true, I actually use them in many of my ads but you need to be careful with these. Some platforms don't like when you sue words like Best, Better, Free, Sale, etc. It's probably because they don't want you taking advantage of their visitors, which makes sense, but if you're really giving something away for free then they should do a little bit of research and let you use it in your ads :D
