    Build backlinks, both dofollow and nofollow but the most important thing you must do to increase you alexa rank is getting traffic. Lots of traffic, especially from internet marketing websites, as many people there have alexa tool bar installed and your rank will rise even faster.

    Let me ask about the Alexa toolbar. Does it mean to say that only the sites with Alexa toolbar are considered for the evaluation of the backlinks for the ranking? What I mean is what if all your backlinks are posted on sites with no Alexa toolbar? Pardon me for this question because I get confused. From what I know about Alexa ranking is that the numbers are based solely on the amount of traffic. So what has the Alexa toolbar go to do with it?

    From what I know, Alexa ranking is based on the volume of traffic that your website receives. That means the higher your position in Alexa rankings, the more traffic you get over the websites that are under your position in the Alexa ranking. Take Google for an actual example, it is the number 1 in Alexa rankings simply because it gets the most traffic among the internet sites.
