Everyone wants to make a ton of money online, but what they don't usually realize is that they can give away free information to do so. How many times have you seen a self proclaimed "guru" give away a free course or eBook? Almost all of the time they do this and it's because they get you in with the free stuff and up sell you on additional courses or methods in order to make money. This isn't even a classic bait and switch, the "gurus" will actually give you a little something of value, and if you like what you got for free, you will be more inclined to sign up for whatever they are selling.
The only downside to this is that a lot of the self proclaimed "gurus" will give you a nice little treat of information in order to get you to sign up with them, and then the value of the service drops completely. The support system is garbage and the services or information is sub par compared to what you can learn for free online.
To fight this, you can learn what the "gurus" are going to sell you, but you don't have to pay for it! This is where the real hidden gurus come into play. These people are running massive websites filled with high quality information and guides which are made to help you out in your online ventures. They usually don't ask for a membership fee or purchase of an eBook in order to obtain this information, they just post it freely so you can learn from it.
Why do the real gurus do this?
It's because they can reach a massive amount of people by giving away free information where as the false "gurus" are selling it to their subscribers. By giving out the information for free, they are increasing the trust they have with all of their visitors and this means they will usually buy anything the real guru recommends.
Don't charge people for the information in your head
At first you won't make much money, and this is because you won't have the traffic just yet. It takes some time to build up your website in order to siphon enough traffic and free readers from around the world.
You will bring people in with your writing and they will love every second of it. If you can't do something like this because of time restrictions or prior responsibilities, you can always outsource the writing. I actually write for a few different corporations and it's only because they don't have the time to do it themselves 
Your free guides, tips and tricks or free eBooks will get people coming in. At first it will be a trickle, but if you keep it up, you can turn that trickle into a hurricane level flood.
If you help them save money, they will purchase
This sounds kind of backwards, but it's 100% true. I've helped people save thousands of dollars through my writings because I will discuss some simple things that seem complicated and the client was going to pay someone $1,000+ to do the work. But after they were done talking to me, they made a purchase from me, for a completely different task, because it was still cheaper than paying the "guru" their full price for 1/5 of the work lol.
If you help people save money, they will trust you more than someone always trying to sell a service or product. Think of it as you're the angel on the clients shoulder telling them all the little secrets the devil sitting on the other shoulder is trying to profit off of. The client will see you as their saving grace and want to invest in you, not the other guy who is trying to suck every dollar out of their pocket
You will be seen as an authority
Being seen as an authority is everything in today's world. If you're just some random website, you better be writing up massive amounts of quality content and giving away free courses or classes in order to become the authority you are aiming to be.
Once you're the authority in the eyes of the consumer, it will be much easier to sell them something. You will become the authority by giving away massive amounts of content that will help anyone who reads it, and those people will then purchase from you when they need something
You will begin to build a following
Giving away a massive amount of free information will ensure that you build a loyal following. I've been watching a competitor of mine, I'm not going to mention them lol, who gives away a massive amount of content every week and they slowly build their dominance within the niche. Now I'm doing the same thing and building my dominance as well, but in the end there can only be one top dog, which I'm trying to be lol.
Building a following will take time, so don't get discouraged if you don't have 1,000 new Instagram followers with every posts haha. Post high quality content on your website and be sure that it helps in some way, shape or form. Posting random content won't do much besides take up space on your hosting, and if you have a small hosting account it could fill up fast You will build authority and then the following will, well, follow You can pretty much guage your authority within the niche based on how many real followers you have on all of your platforms. If your main competitor has 1,000 followers in total and you have 50,000 real followers, you can consider yourself the authority
In Conclusion:
By giving away free information online, you can actually make money. You can run affiliate campaigns or just link to third party services that are your own. Just be sure that everything you do make money off of is related to the massive amounts of free content you'll be giving away on your website. If you're posting about cars and expect people to purchase through an affiliate link for a flower shop, you're going to quickly think that everything I mentioned above is false lol

I think everyone is a sucker for the term "free". Everything seems so much better when it is "free". However, really nothing is ever free, you are exchanging sometime to get a product or service for "free". And if it is truly free then either the content is not that great, or the provider does not really care about money and just wants to help others - which i seem to like these types an awfully a lot! Lol.
Too bad this society is not a trade society where we can trade services and products for other services and products. That would be pretty cool. :D
