When you first start off with guest blogging, it doesn't seem to have any benefit besides getting a link or two out there for the public to possibly see. You want the reader to be happy with your content and website when they click through, so make the content similar to what was talked about within the guest post.
You will build authority with guest posts
The blogs and websites you want to post on will already have a decent authority within the eyes of Google, and that's how you want to be seen. In order to increase your own authority, you need to get links on other high authority websites within your own niche, or a similar one.

By getting your backlinks on a high authority website, you will be increasing your own authority slowly, but surely. Get enough high authority backlinks and you will eventually see your authority spike and the traffic start to flow in from the search engines.

After you get a bunch of good guest posts up and running, you will notice that other niche related websites will start to contact you in order to interview you. This will be great for exposure and building your own authority within the niche even more.
