    Nice question, Both are equally important because just to have backlinks without traffic is of no worth and only traffic without backlinks will not work.

    For me it's traffic. I couldn't care less about PR and SERPs is important to me but not as important as traffic. I can promote and get traffic without having page 1 results.

    Backlinks can generate regular traffic. However, you can gain regular traffic even if you do not have backlinks. You can gain traffic by updating your website with less competitive keywords that have high search volume as well as marketing your contents on social media or through email marketing.

    Both are important but I will go with traffic. It is easy to get traffic than to get backlinks.

    I haven't tried to having backlinks for my site and I have been focusing more on growing my site and getting to reach more people so I can have daily readers to my blog.

    Pardon me when I say I am confused with this discussion. You are like comparing apples with oranges because traffic and backlinks are cousins but not of the same purpose. Traffic is the ultimate goal of a website. And we are doing all those things about SEO methods to get traffic. And the backlinks is just one of the SEO methods. Again, sorry if this reply is confusing because I am also confused with the question.
