Green Marketing: making sustainable business

Green Marketing is a big issue right now for sustainable business owners.

Can you make customers choose your product over others because it's environmentally sustainable?

When targeting your audience you can identify groups of people that are aware of sustainability and want to acquire products/services based on their quality but also for their care for the environment.

But, once you reached this specific group of customers, how can you be visible for the rest of them ("the general audience")?

One idea is to create an environmental education mini campaign using social media to promote environmental consciousness (and your products too).

I think using the online marketing can be green marketing. You can see that people who do online marketing are saving on the offline expenses which require for the using the physical products like say paper and others. So in such case you can see that green marketing can be working if you invest into that type of the products. I for one would be planning in that case to keep the business sustainable. In such case you can see that green marketing may not be something all business can do. Most of the online business can do though.

Pardon me if you are an environmentalist or an advocate of the green movement. I don’t think it is good to mix your advocacy with business because you may lose your focus. As they say, business is business so stick with the business side and make your advocacy a separate endeavor. I have heard of the green hosting where the server is using renewable energy. And how would you know if that is true? I guess the so called “green” thing is just a name for now and it’s not yet time for it.

With green marketing,I believe it all about the users using your products and also preserving the environment,if that's the case the products should come in a package that can be recycled or renewed for more useful purpose that way the general public can be educated about storing away the product's package or container after used to be picked up by the recyclers instead of littery the environment with it.

In my opinion Green Marketing depending on the product or service is a good tactic. In doing this you need to launch an advocacy and awareness campaign. Also integrating a donation or funding campaign can also work.
