    Most Commonly Asked Digital Marketing Questions

    How should companies measure their social media marketing success? For instance, is it just how many likes or shares you get? And, does a company really need a blog for social media marketing or can we just stick with Facebook and Twitter?

    Ultimately, a company should be looking for looking at the return on investment (ROI). Likes
    and shares are good for the ego and for brand awareness, but a business wants to
    make money, not win a popularity contest. The difficulty is, though, attributing
    sales to a social media campaign, and that means a multi touch attribution
    models, and that is way too complicated to contemplate on a Saturday morning! So,

    What a great question! I hope you ask more questions like this! And well worthy of a good answer too. And it does really depend on what your goals are. But I think it comes down to how that social media marketing is working for you. And by working I mean, how many sales it's creating. That would be the measure of success for me, by how many sales all of that SMM is making. But it doesn't just need to be sales. It could be something like subscribers to your newsletter too. Or even more likes, shares, follows, comments and engagement on both your social media posts and your website or blogs articles too.

    As for "does a company really need a blog for social media marketing or can we just stick with Facebook and Twitter?" Well you don't really need a blog but it will come in very handy since you will want to have content that you can share to your social media pages and profiles. And by having a blog, it means as long as you can keep writing and posting articles to your blog, you'll always have something to then share again to your social media accounts and the followers they have.

    But I really wouldn't just stick with Facebook and Twitter no. Not when you can utilize other social media sites for this same purpose as well. Sites like Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, Google+ Flipboard, Buffer, Reddit etc etc. It would make sense for a business or company to utilize these other social media sites in their own unique way to pull in extra traffic.     The likes and responses you get on the post you have shared on social media surely benefits the company that is doing social media marketing. However, the success cannot be determined by the likes on the page or posts or responses to the posts. The primary purpose of social media marketing for a business is driving sales, if the campaign does not give a good ROI, the marketing campaign is a failure.

    In promoting a company, I agree that the social media is one potent venue for that. The advantage in social media is its universal nature that you can find all kinds of people there. Another advantage in promoting your business in social media is its free option. Just post on your Facebook timeline or issue a tweet on your Twitter account and people will see what you are promoting. Although it is easier said than done, you will get good rewards if you study well the techniques of social media marketing.

    I think all elements that needed so that you can call it a success. Like, shares, users, popularity, positive feedback and most of all the income that it is generating. A company can't continue to function without funds. Where will the employee get their wages, no one wants to work 40 hrs a week without compensation.
