Over the years there has always been the battle between Quantity Backlinks vs. Quality Backlinks and having all quality backlinks is a good plan, but using both is a great plan. It's true that having a load of high quality backlinks will definitely help you out when ranking in the SERPs (search engine results pages) but if no one is talking about the pages your links are on, they're not as powerful as they could be. Unlock their full potential by building a few more links towards your high quality links!
Now when I say that you should build some additional links at your high quality links, I'm not saying to pay someone $5 to build 1,000,000 profile links aimed at one of your high quality links by using Xrumer or blog posts with Scrapebox. I'm telling you that you should build some lesser quality, but not garbage, links aimed at your high quality links. There are plenty of people here offering some great services that can be purchased for a few bucks which I use regularly to aim at my high quality links.

What I do with the services above is I use them to increase the power of my tier 1 high quality links. Sometimes I'll use one of them to aim at my main website to help diversify my backlink profile, but not too often. I'll get links on HuffingtonPost, BuzzFeed, or wherever is considered a "High Quality Neighbor" and once the links are up for a week or two I'll come here to SEOclerks.com and purchase one of the services that are manually done over the course of a week to a month. This only helps my high quality links gain some more power and send some love to my main website, which is linked to on that high quality page 
This is called tiered linking and some people will claim that it doesn't work, but they're also trying to sell their own services to the masses lmao. Of course they will say it doesn't work because they just want you to buy what they're selling. And usually they aren't selling tiered or pyramid links
This method won't help you overnight, but it will help in the long run. I would say that over the course of a couple weeks to a month you would see a decent ranking boost, but with SEO there is no overnight or one shot campaign to get ranked and stay there. You'll need to keep up the hard work with high quality link building and adding a few links aimed at those quality ones you've built in order to dominate your competition.

I guess these are alright for your buffer sites though. Your tier2's, tier 3's etc. Although lately, I've been treating my teir 2's as though they was my money site! And only building high quality links to them like I would my money site as well. I think it's the best thing to do to be safe you know?
