Well, whitehat methods are way better then some old blackhat methods that stop to have any effect after the panda update.

Consider building link wheel based on wiki sites, social bookmarks, article release and edu backlinks.

I guess you just have to continue posting your backlinks on popular sites and do not spam by posting so many backlinks on one site. Choose the most popular sites that has relevance to your niche so it makes sense to see your backlink there. A popular blog or a big forum can bring you a good backlink and I think posting on those sites are easier than finding an authority site like Edu or Gov.
