What's next for SEO in 2017

I would expect to see more emphasis put on video marketing and video content creation. 2016 has been called "The year of video" and as the technology is increasing and more video is being viewed and watched compared to written content and other forms of content and media. I would expect video marketing will increase exponentially and a lot of SEO methods, tactics and techniques being based on video.

Also as more emphasis has been on doing SEO for mobile users along with quality content and voice search combined with Artificial Intelligence. All combined in with AMP pages and mobile apps SEO including micro formats and local SEO and social media influence.

Onpage SEO trends by some of the most trending now with increased climb into 2017 would be things like

AMP and Mobile pages
Amazing epic long content
Voice Searching
Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning
Micro formats / Schema markup
UX and Structure

And trending and growing offpage SEO trends would be the things like

Your outreach and influential marketing
Your backlinks as they will always count
Your social media engagement sharing count
Any paid forms of advertising channels
Video content and marketing
HTTPS / Caching / Site speed /
The Internet of Things (peripherals that are all connected and talk to each other)
Google will eventually buy Twitter.
Virtual Reality
Augmented Reality
Wearable Tech
Push Notifications for SEOClerks

I think 2017 will be a turning point in the battle for the internet boss title. Sure right now Google has the upper hand, but Facebook is not far behind and I'm sure it will surprise everyone making a move both on video to combat Youtube but also improve on their internal search to keep people away from Google Search on certain things.

Microsoft has Skype and LinkedIn on its sleeve and I'm curious what other moves they'le make to remain relevant in this battle.

I think that marketers need to place more importance on videos since most people prefer to watch a video than read something. The effectiveness of a video also lies in its visual impact, which tends to leave more of an imprint than anything else. So I think that as virtual reality is progressing it is really important for SEO and marketing to move a bit faster in the use of a simple video for marketing and SEO purposes. I think many are still realy behind on this and it is a pity.

This is an old discussion and by now we already know that nothing special happened in the past year and also during this year. Maybe we can say that a responsive website is now a must because the number of mobile browsers have eclipsed the number of computer browsers in the internet which means you can now get more traffic from mobile users hence the AMP is important.
