Have you ever heard about oonfun?

It seems like it's a new social media platform, basically like Facebook.

Here's a little something from their "about" page.

"Oonfun is a pure entertainment website to connect people across the world. It is an online social media websites offering social networking service based in Pakistan. Oonfun was launched on 14 may 2016 by Asad Jutt along Online Social networking Company. At beginning, the website membership was limited for a specific region but now it is extended for everyone to become the member to enjoy a social network across the world."

I've never heard of it before and stumbled upon this by pure accident. Seems to me like a poor copy of Facebook, and based in Pakistan.. - I mean, I don't want to be like that, but an entire social media from someone who lives in Pakistan. - That just doesn't feel right.

Here's something else from their "about" page.

" There is no membership fee is applicable to access the website but it’s free of cost and access from everywhere in the world."

I'm from Sweden and I have issues with grammar and things too, but seriously.. That looks awful.

The website uses a version of Sngine, probably a nulled or warez version, I would not doubt it especially coming from Pakistan.. You can find the demo here. The script sells for $45 on CodeCanyon, and it's basically as what you all have said, a facebook clone. The script is widely used, believe it or not. And I think at one point in time Facebook sent their creators a DMCA takedown requests because of the similar layout or something if I remember correctly.. I could be wrong.

Now, I would not join a site that is similar to facebook, or an exact replica of facebook because facebook already exists, and why would I join their site when I already have facebook? I would probably join a social networking site that is innovative, or hasn't been done yet because it's new and fresh. Also, I would not join a facebook clone because you can clearly see that they are trying to gain money from the site, or to market products based off of facebooks success.. and that is not cool with me.

Cor yeah, Facebook clone much!! I'd never heard of this site or stumbled upon it myself yet either. I don't really like the name of it, it sounds weird to say. I can't imagine saying "Oh I gotta check my Oonfun". Or "Add my on oonfun". oonfun oonfun oonfun lol.

Yeah it looks a bit like it was created by someone that talks in broken English and English isn't perhaps their native language. Still though, not knowing English is no excuse for bad grammar. I guess they should employ a native English proof reader if they want to target the English speaking world now! Especially if they want to cut it in this cut throat hyper competitive industry today.

Still though I ended up creating an account just for a poke. Signed in with my Facebook actually how ironic lol. But if they have a lot of users already, and have groups and pages and things like that it could be useful if you can tap into that as it's all promotion right?

I'm glad you liked it Mike and I'll definitely make sure to share more of these things if I find something more. I won't signup on oonfun and I think it's awful just like I stated in the first post. That being said, I would appreciate any inputs you could share during your time there. What you think, what you are doing and if you believe it could be a potential traffic source or whatever in the future. So please do share any details you can in the future.

It looks completely dead to be honest. Do a search for anything and nothing shows, no Posts,
Users, Pages, Groups nothing. Make sure the ones you find are good and have a big user base and a lot interest already that possibly reward me to use it like Steemit and or some other revenue sharing site.

Haha, I believe oonfun is very new though Mike, so perhaps it will take off in the near future, but I truly doubt it. Don't you think people already have all the social medias they need? - And more importantly, do you believe people will actually use some sort of Facebook clone from Pakistan?

Anyhow, I'll let you know of any new platforms I find in the future too, and I'll obviously try to find something we all can benefit from!

Nothing beats FaceBook these days and it just looks like an inactive clone of FaceBook. I doubt it will get popular at all and I think no social network will beat the big guys any time soon (FaceBook, Twitter, Linkedin etc).

I had never heard of it. It did not make much of an impression from what I saw and from what you guys said. I pity these people who try to start something like this with the intention of going really strong, such as trying to be similar to Facebook. How on earth can they hope to achieve something as massive as Facebook is?! Not even Twitter is managing to go anywhere near the success Facebook has!

I agree, especially since all of the social networks allow Pakistani users to create an account. Why would you want to create a social network that is country targeted when facebook allows Pakistani users is beyond me. The only social networking site that has had success in targeting a specific country would be VKontakte, a russian social networking website similar to facebook. However, VKontakte is not only for russian user's any longer, they are worldwide now but mostly russians use the website.

14 may 2016 - they don't have a chance against facebook, a newborn baby like this! Haha.
Also, I never made it passed the login page, why the hell is they offering registration with facebook, twitter AND LinkedIn?

I mean, have some self-respect as a social network man, this is what myspace have done a good number of years ago and failed miserably, same for HI5 back in the day, at one point they all introduced facebook logins (WHY would you do that?)

I have no idea! - I've seen this many times before too. I can see why some websites offer their users to signup using Facebook and whatever, but when it comes to a new social media platform.. A website that could potentially be competing with Facebook. Sure, these will never be able to do that, compete with Facebook I mean, but let's say they could.. The best approach to lure users, wouldn't be by allowing them to join with their Facebook accounts.. lol.

Anyhow, thank you all for trying this. I think I'll pass. Now, tomorrow and probably forever.

First time heard of this website. And I am not much sure if that is something where I can spend my time. I am sure there are some really good sources in there. And it would be reasonable to see how the social media websites can be good in such context. I'd say it looks like a good place and needs to be checked out.

This should be dead on arrival because I don't see this flying, never heard about this site, just saw the headline and decided to check out and find out what it all about.I don't think any platform can take the place of Facebook for now, not with the upgrading and adding of more exciting features daily, not even with the over 2 billion users, it will take a long while for another platform to toggle Facebook.
