    From a SEO experts perspective. Would it be easier to work with a new website or an old one?

    SEO Experts,
    I have a question for you all.

    Do you find it easier to work with a newly launched website or would you rather work with an old, existing one?

    For instance, I'll launch a website very shortly (as long as everything works out the way I want it too), and I would definitely need someone to do everything SEO related for me as I personally don't have all the knowledge, experience or the time to do it myself.

    So basically, as the expert you are, would it be easier for you to work with that directly, when the site is newly launched, or would you rather do the job in a few months when I've already hired someone to do the SEO for me during that time?

    Would it make a difference for you at all?

    Oh this is an interesting topic Andre, and I would love to hear what the SEO freelancers have to say about this.

    From my side I found it tricky taking over my own website when someone else had set it up. I enjoyed learning how to set up my own websites from scratch. I learned much more and I knew exactly where I was all the time.

    So I would think that if I was an SEO freelancer I might enjoy working with a website from the beginning knowing From a SEO experts perspective. Would it be easier to work with a new website or an old one?

    Thank you Lynne! - Yeah, I think it's a rather good question actually, and I bet I'll get many different answers on this too. But it would be cool to hear from the actual experts what they prefer, and it would also be good to know before I launch my site. As that would mean that I could basically launch it at the same time I hire someone to do the SEO for me.. And then keep working with the same expert in the future too.

    I'm a bit skeptical about changing people I work with. I'd rather stick with the same people for a long period of time.

    Yes I also like to stick with the same people, they get to know you and they get to know your websites too and what you are working towards. I do think that this is important.

    You got that right Lynne! - I always prefer to work with people I know, but in reality it's hard to stick with those people all the time.. So I'm trying to be careful and not jump into any partnerships or deals with new people. Regardless of their current reputation and all that. - I need to get a "feel" for them before something like that.

    Both are equally challenging for me! And let me explain why. Old websites usually have some authority I can work with, making it easier to reach certain goals and start ranking for main keywords, it can also mean it already ranks for an extensive range of keywords meaning I just need to expand the niche on secondary keywords and make sure we maintain our current ranks.

    Brand new websites are like newborns, you can mold them from your perspective and although you also need to build authority because you will essentially have zero ranking worth I find it fun to start ranking for long tail keywords first and slowly building the website up. Nothing compares to the feeling you get when a new website doing well in rankings and watch those keywords get better results every week.

    Thank you very much for your reply Cristian, I appreciate it! - So, based on your reply, I'd need to be very careful and cautious about who I hire to do my SEO when I launch my site then?

    I think it will be easy to work with a new one. A new website is a new mud, you can make anything from it, whether a pot, vase or bowl. There is plenty of rooms to work. It is better to work from scratch instead of rebuilding already built website. The thing is you don't know what has been already done and what needs to be done.

    My choice on the discussion is a new website would be easier to work with because it is like starting from scratch. Given a piece of blank paper to work on is definitely easier than a paper with contents that you need to rearrange, delete some and add some. With a new website, you have the freedom of choice on the approach on the layout and entire design plus the kind of contents. With an old website, I cannot imagine the volume of work that you need to to do before you get to the first base.
