    Have you ever been mentored? - Have you ever hired a "guru" to teach you things?

    I can't say that I've ever had a mentor, at least not in the same way that people are hiring "gurus" to teach them certain things. - But, I am curious to know if anyone actually had a mentor at any point?

    • What did they teach you? - How did they do it?
    • Did you pay a one-time fee, monthly and do you think it was a fair price?


    The reason I ask is because I've been writing a handful of reports and e-books previously, and all of those e-books and reports includes what I actually believe a "guru" would teach me. But instead of giving me a 75 pages long e-book, they give me a few "lessons", and they do it using a live chat or whatever, so it feels "good" sort of.. - Which basically mean that I could be a mentor instead of selling e-books. Right or wrong?

    I wish I had someone holding me by the hand when I was starting out lol. They would have been able to tell me that some of my ideas were extremely dumb and will not profit and also teach me ways to actually make money online Have you ever been mentored? - Have you ever hired a "guru" to teach you things?

    Paying in to a mentorship sounds a bit odd. If you can pay for it, then I would expect a lot of other people could do the same thing. This means you would have much less time with the mentor since he or she would have to split time between everyone.

    Also, whenever I hear someone say they're a "guru" I always get annoyed because I probably have 10+ years more experience than they do and I still don't consider myself a "guru" lmao Have you ever been mentored? - Have you ever hired a "guru" to teach you things?

    LOL! - I know what you mean. I would never call myself a guru either, but in reality, when you look at these "mentor/guru" services.. It actually seems like I could be one of them gurus. Some people are charging as much as $5000 for 30 days. And the only guarantee they have is "that you will make a sale during this time" kind of. As long as you do whatever they tell you to, and if you fail, then you'll get your money back. But in case you make 1 sale, then you won't get the money back. - Seriously? - I would charge $5000 and buy something myself from the client. = PROFIT!     When I hear "guru" now my mind immediately translates that into SCAMMER lol.I guess that this is just because this is the way the internet is now. Whenever I have come across someone using the words guru or mentor it has turned out to be some shoddy scam or time waster.

    I get so suspicious of anyone now that claims to be a guru or an expert in any field online.

    I do think though that there is a market for online coaching for online marketing. Like Razzy said I also would have loved to have someone take me by the hand and teach me how to work online.

    I am sure there is a market for this Andre but from an income point of world would it not be easier to make money online by creating eBooks and video courses and selling them rather than teach people one on one? Then you are limited to the amount of time you have in a day? With eBooks and video courses you have already done the work once and then you sell it over and over again.

    Perhaps you could offer the eBooks and video training courses for one price and then let those customers have an option of additional mentorship if they like your content?

    That would most likely be a great add-on to a video course, and it would probably be appreciated by those people who doesn't want to read or watch a video. Some people are just more in to learning from a teacher. - However, I do get your point and I agree with you. Which is one of the reasons I started to create e-books to begin with actually.

    That being said, a one on one coaching thingy could be sold for as much as $5000 or so, and I mean, I'd settle with half of that, for a 30 day coaching, as long as I could do it with just a few hours of work in total, which most people seem to do. - That way, I would be able to generate an income by coaching and e-books or video courses, but I just doesn't consider myself to be a "guru" nor an "expert", so I just can't do things like this. It doesn't feel right.

    I don't think those Guru have ever helped anyone to make money online. All they do by mentoring is; they sell their own affiliate products to their own students.

    Some gurus are real and do have a lot of experience in whatever it is they are mentoring you in. The thing is, there are also many many copy cat gurus out there that claim to be a guru in something but really don't have that much skills and experience in it at all and are just copying another guru somehow, someway. They are learning as they go and anytime anyone asks them a question they don't fully know the answer for, they'll go off and ask the real guru and then come back and give you a reiterated/regurgitated answer for it.

    For that reason, I've always been very skeptical about all these self claimed gurus out there. Especially when it comes to a topic like SEO! A lot of people do SEO. And they claim to be an SEO expert or SEO guru. But all they're really doing is using some push button software. I think we've had this discussion before about how some people in the SEO game call themselves SEO experts or gurus when they're actually really not. And in most cases, you can often tell right off the bat that they're not really a guru at all when you start asking them questions they can't immediately answer and then start getting really funny with you because you're asking too many questions lol.

    I've never personally hired a guru for mentoring myself. But if I ever did it would be through a personal recommendation. From someone else that has used that person and gave me real feedback about that guru and if and only if, that guru had actually helped them in some way.

    But you don't really have to be a complete expert in something to "mentor" someone. And I'd say yes, it would be better if you could do live one-on-one video calling or Skype conversation or something so you can walk them through the process step by step.

    I'd pay for that provided I know I was going to actually get something and somewhere from it all. Have you ever been mentored? - Have you ever hired a "guru" to teach you things?

    I just want to say that i know many things and that im for hire! I know alot about crypto currency trading and even more about mining. I would charge a percentage of what you make with what im teaching you. For example if i taught you Bitcoin mining and helped you get set up i would expect a Percent on a monthly basis to create a reoccurring payment. If i could get enough clients i would be able to generate a great monthly income off of a one time job. I mean i would of course be available for questions or whatever at anytime but its the only way i would do business. If i did the work all myself then its different but if im teaching you to not need me anymore i have to collect. Interesting topic thanks for sharing.

    I was once hired as a Virtual Assistant when i was at the beginning but I couldn't last for more than a week. Not because I'm a crazy guy but because I was receiving instructions on how to do things only in a particular way. I felt like a monkey you know, monkey see, monkey do.

    The guy that hired me was an experienced seo guy but he was lacking of vision. For instance I was handling the content on some forum and he was insisting on an exactly pattern for every post cutting my "influence" in the post.
    I would have wanted to get a better "teacher" so that's why I became my own teacher. It took me a while to get used to every service but I worked how I wanted, when I wanted without anyones guidelines and I believe that I handle myself quite well.

    Most of the things I've learned over the years were by copying some other freelancer or just plain out learning the old fashion way, by myself. Reading gurus and professional that actually know what they are talking about is very helpful, but you are not yet out of the woods, you need to implement and test those techniques or tutorials yourself, otherwise you won't learn anything and you won't be very successful.

    Nobody is paying you when you are learning something because you do it for yourself not for any potential employer.

    I wish I could get someone that can be my mentor in the freelancing world. I have been working online for quite some weeks now and it has not been easy, but that does not mean that I should be giving up that early. I would try as much as I could to be my mentor to see changes in my life.

    I have never been mentored and I have no idea of how the mentorship works. So I am not sure how the real guru and real mentor is going to be like. Most of the time I have got the bad advice on the mentorship. So you can see that I don't have the inclination left to get some mentor. I wish to execute and learn from my mistake. And that may cost time. But that is something I am willing to risk at this point of my life. And another thing is that real gurus are kind of deceptive these days. So it's hard to find out who is real and who is fake these days.

    I'm even on it till now, i paid him a one time fees to educate me and see me through my blogging journey, I started it off on my own but I came to realize that there are intricacies that need a guru to do and I don't want to pay a guru all the time while he is helping me put things right on my blog, I am also learning from him in form of a video tutorial and it has been very useful.So yes it better to employ an expert but it much better if we can learn to become one.

    I am actually doing a self-study when it comes to my freelancing. When I first joined this site, I have no idea what an SEO means. I have learned so many things by going to forums and I can say that those forums are like my mentor since I have been constantly learning from the boards. It’s sometimes funny that what I learn from one forum, I share in another forum. Of course, I don’t try to get the credit. And maybe in 5 more years, I can be an expert in some facets of the internet.
