Getting into online reputation management? It could pay off big time.

If you're getting into online reputation management, or ORM, you'll need to know a few things first.

First off you'll need to understand what SEO is and how to dominate the search engines. A lot of reputation management will fall under SEO, but you can't really sell it to a client as an SEO campaign because that's not what they want lol.
Next you'll need a good idea on what keywords to target in order to dominate in online reputation management. Usually you're pretty good with just BusinessName+Review or WebsiteURL+Review and any variation of that. An example of that would be "SeoClerks Review" or "www.seoclerks.com review" or just "seoclerks.com review". These are most likely the main keywords that people will be searching when it comes to online reputation management. The listings in the top 10 positions, whether they be real or written by you, will determine if that person searching purchases or not.
Last you'll need to know how to write content that will put the business or website in a good light. Whether that be from forum posts, articles on third party websites, or just paying a blogger to add a positive review to their pages. This is where the main part of online reputation management comes into play. You'll need to get a ton of positive content out there about the website or company you're working with so that you can flood out any bad content that may be affecting the website or company which hired you.

I've done plenty of online reputation management for companies and friends in the past and it always turns out well. The companies don't see a huge spike in sales from this type of work, but that's not exactly what it's done for. The purpose of ORM is to convert those people who are on the fence that look up reviews for your website or service prior to purchasing because they don't know if they should or not

Another good way to use this is to flood out the falsified bad reviews by your competitors who are just trying to hurt your business for their own purposes. Yeah, that happens a lot.

I've had plenty of ORM clients, and they usually pay more than my SEO clients because there is a lot more work involved. I recently signed a client who is on a 6 month contract at $2,000 a month

So it helps to get out there and write up why you're the best at ORM

Good tactic Razzy! This really is a big one that no company should ignore, most miss a lot because they haven't done a proper ORM and once it goes on the negative scale on its own (natural) it will be pretty difficult to repair things, getting positive reviews and asking people to remove the negatives one as well as outrank the pages that criticize you and your company.

Its not really censorship the way I see it, just a way to protect your business while doing your best to improve on the quality you are delivering to clients.

Thank you for the inspiration post that somehow gave me encouragement to go on with my freelancing. To earn $2,000 a month is already a fortune here and that is a dream come true. Maybe I am on the right track in learning SEO methods because I can earn money from that knowledge especially now that SEO is getting to be a big industry with the webmasters concerned with search engine traffic.
