Pushing a result down from Google?

Hello, I don't know if this is a thing and with so many options on this site, I don't know how exactly even search for it, but here goes..

Everybody offers services to get your link or something up at Google search results, but my friend has one link, that comes up every time I Google him, an article.
Is it possible somehow push this result to page 2, or even page 3, or even totally away from search results?
(We neither own this site/link we want to remove form results)

So you want the link that shows when you Google him to not show on the 1st page but rather the 2nd or 3rd? If so what you're asking about is doing reverse SEO on it so that it doesn't rank as high by getting it penalized by Google for over-optimization. But doing that is highly unethical and could land you in deep hot water if you are found out to be doing it.And there is no guarantee it would work. If it's a high authority site that is ranking, then chances are, that would actually improve the ranking position it has and end up backfiring on you. The best thing to do would be to try and rank other things for those keywords which link to a different site entirely but that could take some doing, time, effort and hard work on your behalf and even then there's no guarantee that it would work as is the nature of the game with SEO. Plus you may have to do that many times over to get other things ranking above his article for the same keywords and then do it over and over again. So much so that it was enough to outrank his article with your own and push him off the 1st page of SERP results.

I agree with Mike here, trying to get someone else's content pushed down doesn't sound nice to me.

Rather work on your own website and try and rank yours better. Sure we all want our content to be ranked #1 on Google but really we do have to play nicely.

It is about trying to outrank others, not get them penalized or pushed down.

Basically what you'll want is online reputation management, if I'm understanding this right. You see a bad article in the rankings for one of your main keywords and you want it removed or pushed down so far that anyone searching for you will not see the listing. And we all know that getting something like this to page 2 or 3 will pretty much make it invisible since not many people leave the first page of the SERPs (search engine results pages).

What you'll need to do is either hire a company, or service provider, that specialized in SEO and ORM (online reputation management) and see what they think. You can do all of this yourself and save a few bucks, but it's a lot of work.

You'll have to basically post positive content about your website around the internet and then build up those pages like they were your own. You can also do this with social media profiles with fresh content and being active. After you get about 20 or 30 different pages built on 20 to 30 different websites or platforms, then you'll need to build links to all of them in order to get them ranked for your specific keyword. You can do this by purchasing a GSA type service that accepts unlimited URLs right here on SeoClerks. After you purchase it, add all your third party URLs and the keywords you want to rank for. Do not add your main website URL or any of your sub pages.

Doing this will result in increasing the rankings of all these third party websites and platforms for your desired keyword and funnel all that traffic to your website. If someone sees the entire first page filled with positive words about your company or website then they will not need to click through to page 2 or page 3.

This technique/method will push the negative post down in the SERPs and you won't have to worry about it much

If you see it coming back, you can just purchase a cheap GSA service again and blast it at your third party URLs.

I had a client once, a doctor, that wanted me to remove an article that was coming up on the first page when searching his own name, it was written by a sensations paper regarding a possible case of malpractice this doctor may or may not been involved in.

So he was pretty desperate, he wanted that "stain" removed. For 6 months I tried everything! Creating content or blog to outrank that website on the first page of Google, I even did some reverse SEO, buying a massive amount of blackhat links to get that link panelized.
Nothing happened, I even contacted Google in the hope that they'll remove it based on some legal terms.
Again, nothing happened, to this day, that article is still up and running on the first page. You can't remove something that already is online., just my two cents on this.

Try these:
- get thousands of backlinks to the article by targeting non related keywords to his name;
- create a few little blogs, then publish some content (HQ) and link these blogs each to other (create them on wordpress.com, blogger.com, Quora, anything popular);
- use Q&A websites
- build some new profiles on most important social websites and make then active (add posts and engage with people)

After these you should push back with a few positions or pages the actual article.

That’s also the problem of my husband when he was handling their office website. The old website was appearing in the first page of the search list. Worse, that old website occupies the highest rank so new visitors using the search engine would be directed to the old website. They had already informed Google about it to take away the link of the old website but until now there are searches that produces the old website in the search list.
