How to manage Google Adsense Ads

I have been with Adsense for a few months now and I have their ad in my side bar on all my websites. So far I am earning a little bit of income, nothing to get like really excited about though

What I want to know is how can I add more ads into my actual content, so say for example one of my posts is really popular how can I add a little advert near the top of that post or within the actual content?

Has anyone watched a really cool tutorial on this that I will be able to check out?

Hi Lynne. All you need to do is go to Google Adsense / Content > Ad units > New ad unit.
Type a name for it and then select the size.
Then get the code and insert that into your post (HTML tab).
Update the post and bang! After a few minutes the ad will show.

However... If you're using WordPress, you can install the Google Adsense for WordPress plugin.
Using this plugin, you can use simple drag n' drop interface and choose where you want your ads to show.
You can select where abouts on your site/page you want it to show, even where in your content you want it to show.

Once you've chosen where you want the ads to show, you can then preview it or save it.

This plugin lets you place AdSense ads using a simple point-and-click UI rather than manually inserting snippets yourself. To insert AdSense ads without the plugin would first involve generating the AdSense snippet and then pasting the Adsense snippet into either the text of the site or directly into the PHP. Google automatically determines potential placements for AdSense ads, suggests an initial ad layout, and allows you to lay out ads on your site.

It's a really clever plugin and I've used it on many of my WP sites in the past.

Anyway, whether you use the plugin or not, this should get you going in the right direction!

Thanks Mike, that is really useful indeed.

You know I get quite nervous messing around with things when I don't have a clue what I am doing! I saw the Ad Unit section but I was hesitant to use it without knowing exactly how to do it first. Thanks, that was so simple and easy to do!

I might enjoy using the plugin too, that might be simpler and easier than adding in code to my website content.

I haven't used Adsense in a while but I know there was this rule, about not having more than 3 Adsense ads on a specific page.

Also, from my experience, a page full of ads converts less than a page with just two ads. You need to experiment a lot with Adsense, read online tutorials but the best thing you can do is to figure out what works for YOU and YOUR blog, because every website is different when it comes to such things.
