Everyone that does freelancing is doing it for because of some particular or specific reason. Some people started freelancing after they were looking for ways to make money online. Some people started doing it because of something someone told them about it or perhaps they read an article in a newspaper/magazine about freelancing.
Some people may have literally been sitting there thinking "how can I make money in my spare time" or "how can I turn my hobbies or skills and experience into cash"? And then went from there..
Some people may have been doing something completely different like running a forum or a blog and then started doing something small which lead them to end up walking down the freelancer path until they started to realize what they are and went big from there.
That's sort of how it was for me. I used to run several forums on design and illustration after I was made a moderator for a popular forum and then started selling custom sig banners which I turned into a full service. That was many years ago though and since then I become a webmaster/blogger and started needing things for my site like SEO, backlinks, content etc. So I have learned about that over the past 10+ years of being online.
It wasn't easy to get hold of things like that back then! There was no SEOClerks, no such site. No Freelance.com, no Upwork. Nothing! And to get something like that you had to "know" people or do it yourself! So I'm self taught when it comes to SEO and SMO and freelancing.
I've been launching niche sites and ideas since then and flipping them! But that's been for as long but it's only really in the past 5+ years I've been working on SEOClerks as a freelancer. And it's been uphill ever since! 
But really it's only been in the last year or so that I've been doing quite well on here. I was recently made a Level X3 seller and I've seen an increase in sales because of it! But it hasn't exactly been "easy". It's taken blood, sweat and tears to get there, sort of. Just basically showing that if you're dedicated and work hard. You can get there!
But there are some much much bigger freelancers out there than me. Those that have been doing SEO and SMO for many years and I'm just a small fish in a big wide ocean compared to them. And some of them really inspire me and motivate me to carry on. To share their success.
So it's really interesting to me to hear how you got started in freelancing.
No matter what level you are at with it so far in your career.
If you're a new rookie or a long experienced whale.
What about you though? How did you get into freelancing?
Did you think you was going to be the freelancer you are today?
Did you see yourself having as much success in freelancing as you first thought?
And one more question for you.
Where do you see yourself as a freelancer in 5 or even 10 years time.
Awesome Everett. That's what it's all about, finding your path that fate has laid for you. You just got to walk it! And you paint a picture of a path that many others that have gone before you in and made something amazing out of it in the programming industry. It all goes back to needing to eat and pay your bills basically but from that you can learn to be a programmer and make something out of your skills and talents. Whether it's just learning to fix peoples problems with their existing codes or creating new scripts and things yourself from that code. Do you do that sort of thing both fixing peoples PHP errors etc as well as create and design your own PHP scripts? If so what kinds of PHP scripts have you created that I or anyone as a freelancer would find useful? J/curious :)

I started about eight years ago, when the family needs increased with the birth of our child. I wanted to find ways that could enable me to earn some more money. I also wanted to make sure that I was still present at home so as to make the most of my child's infancy. I did not want to lose that for anything in the world. So I was browsing and looking for ways to make money online and I came across an opportunity of writing articles. Since then I have never looked back. I have been writing articles and content ever since :)

Well congratulations Elite! Even if it is 8 years late of me! That all sounds perfectly sound and reasonable to me! So was you a bit of a writer before you started working on SEOClerks then? Was you already doing freelance work as a writer before or had heard or read somewhere about it that you could do it or you just knew it was something you could do and was good at and thought you'd give it a shot and it's been uphill ever since? Is that fair to say and ask? :)

That's great Lynne. Thanks for sharing your story with us! So do you still have an online baby store today then? I know you have a few good sites and is that enough for you or will you be dipping your bread stick into other dips on the table in the future too? With one of these new domain names like Lynnesbaby.store or something :p
