Ok so I was talking to a buddy of mine , and he was telling me about how had just came home with a new smart tv now me I got your regular hd flat screen tv I have about a 50 inch in my living room but never mind the size I didn't really understand why he bought it he went on to mention about how he is able to hook his tv up to the Internet and stream from Netflix and Hulu and all types of other apps now I have an Xbox so streaming isn't really my concern are there any good reasons why people think so highly of these tv's I personally think they might a bit over rated and over priced

Now then, as for Smart TV's, they are much much better than just regular flat screen TV's! It's like comparing an old standard mobile phone from 2001 to todays modern mobile phone (Smartphone). The simple fact is that Smart TV's let you connect to the Internet and have apps you can install on them for things like YouTube, Hulu, Netflix etc etc. Plus the usually have a lot more features to them than regular flat screen TV's do such as social networking and instant messaging apps too like Skype, Facebook, Twitter etc. Plus video on demand services etc which means you can watch shows and episodes you might have missed on your favorite channels. Depending on your region.
True Smart TV's are UHD 4K ready these days though. So they'll not only have Internet connectivity via WiFi (or LiFi in the near future possibly) so you can access on demand services, video, social and messaging apps etc but they are 4K enabled too. This is what you want because you can now stream 4K videos from YouTube and more services and providers are providing 4K content now as well, movies, documentaries, shows etc that you can watch for free or with a subscription. Amazon, Sky, Netflix etc.
And Smart 4K TV's aren't overpriced these days. I was just looking in Curry's PC World the other day at some. There are some reasonably good brand name Smart 4K TV's there for around £400-500 but that's about $900 in USD which is about the price that they sell for in the US depending on the brand and spec of the TV. What you want to get though is not just a Smart 4K ready TV. But one that has a high refresh rate of around 1000 Hz as that will always provide a much better picture. Especially for gaming with!
