How to Turn Your Android Smartphone into a Fully Functional PC?

Over the years, smartphones have become even more powerful and there is hope that they might one day become so powerful that people stop using desktop PC's altogether in favor of their smartphones instead. And in that time there has been many attempt by people to take the power of an Android phone and turn it into a fully functioning desktop computer.

Some companies have done this sort of thing already such as Remix OS which gives your Android device a user friendly Windows PC like desktop and Mario OS which gives it a more Linux like desktop look and feel.

Well now a new company have released Andromium OS which essentially lets you use the power of your Android phone as a fully fledged desktop PC. All you have to do is connect your smartphone to a TV or monitor and plug in a mouse and keyboard and voila! You have a fully functioning PC using the power of your Android device!

Andromium OS is what's empowering a new technological concept called "Superbook" which is primed to become the new way that people use desktop computers and laptops. Essentially it makes it much much cheaper way to get all the same features that some of the most powerful laptops and computers have with your phone providing all the power.

How to Turn Your Android Smartphone into a Fully Functional PC?

While you can't get Superbook yet, you can get Andromium OS to see how it will sort of be in working concept. To experience Andromium OS like it will look on the Superbook you will need the following things;

An Android device running Android 4.4+ with a Snapdragon 800 processor or better and minimum of 2GB RAM.
A Bluetooth keyboard and mouse.
A Chromecast so you can playback on your TV/monitor.
A 1080p TV / monitor.
A Null keyboard.
The Andromium OS app (obviously).
A Wireless network (Wi-Fi).

If you don't have a Chromecast, you can also use Miracast or any Dock/Adapter that allows external TV/monitor attachments. You'll also need a USB or Bluetooth Mouse and Keyboard as well of course. Of course you don't have to send the desktop to an external TV/Monitor, you can just view it on your Android mobile device itself!

If you have all these things and would like to get it and try it out, you can for free for a limited time only on the Google Play Store. It's in BETA phase right now so you'll be helping them and they'd probably like any feedback / bugs you find when using it for which there may be perks and benefits for in the future.

Right now Andromium OS is rather basic and only comes with basic apps, but over time as it plays out and improves, and as smartphones become even more powerful, the Andromium OS will give people who require and demand a little bit more from their basic default Android system a lot more ways to get a lot more done.

This is probably the coolest thing i have ever seen. Could you imagine trying to get actual work done from your phone though? This is especially good for those people who are always on the road. I love the adapter that makes it so you can see whats on your phone on a regular computer monitor. How long has this software been out and are people across the world using this on a large scale? Im sure whoever invented this idea is doing pretty well rite now! The ram requirements seem a bit high since the minimum requirements for windows 7 is 1 GB. I wonder how easy it would be to crack one of these wide open and gain access to someone phone. Anyway this is great news for the tech industry another win. Thanks for sharing Mike.

Makes sense for things to evolve on this path, one of the best things such a technology can offer will be the fact that you won't have multiple devices and multiple operation systems, you'll just use your own personal phone for everything anywhere you might go.

I'm not sure smartphones are powerful enough to rival with laptops yet, but they are differently getting stronger to the point where the top current smartphones have better specs than most laptops low budget laptops.
You will still need a desktop/PC interface but the good thing would be the fact that you won't need to change it every 3-4 years because it becomes outdated, I don't think keyboards and full HD displays will go out of fashion anytime soon.

Yeah I've seen it on kickstarter first, and I have to say that it was a successful project. Now this is very similar with Windows Continuum if you've heard about it, windows continuum it allows you to turn your mobile into a desktop same as andromium does, in this case you need chromecast while for Windows you need a dock created by Microsoft. Basically it's the same thing, but the only difference is the Operating System.

Thing that I like from Windows Continuum is that it allows you to use your phone even when it's connected to a display.

Personally I've never used them, but I think it's very useful for anyone that want to work directly from his phone without having to transfer data to a desktop/laptop to do it.

Hmm, I think I have to remember that Andromium OS because it looks good. I cannot imagine that my phone can be used as a full fledged computer. I am amazed by this development and I thank this site for accepting me because this discussion is another add on to my knowledge. Since monitors are cheap and it can be an ordinary tv then testing that Andromium OS will not be difficult.
