After reading this great post Aquila Project, Facebook Made It! by ProCoder it just remind me of another revolutionary technology which is not in wide use, but i bet it will overtake current use of Wi-Fi devices very soon. Li-Fi is actually 100 times faster then best Wi-Fi at the moment and it spreading internet access signal by light. Sounds like very awesome future technology and i really wish to have it in my home as soon as possible, not just because of speed of data transferred but because of other better performances as well. I've watched both the videos, I've Googled LiFi and I still don't understand how it works fully LOL. That said, I'm a little more clued up on it now than I was before. I've known about it but never really looked into it that much. To be honest, while I get the gist of it in that it will be much faster than Wifi used to be, there is a lot to pick up on about it. But it's looking pretty nifty that's for sure! Basically, it's using the visible light spectrum to transmit data. Where as WiFi can transmit data at speeds up around 1.25 GB per second. LiFi can do it at speeds up up to 200+ Gbit/s. That means you will be able to transfer a large movie or game that is around 80GB in like 0.8 seconds. That's insane! However something else I've taken away from this is that unlike WiFi which uses radio waves to transmit data and can interfere with other equipment, LiFi doesn't interfere with it so can be used safely on an airplane. Also one downside to is is that it can't be used outside on a bright day because the sunlight would interfere with the signal but that's something they can work on. Anyway, interesting technology, no doubt it's the future and sooner or later we'll be asking "[b]What's the LiFi password please[/b]" as normal and as usual. :D

Oh my this sounds incredible, I am just wondering how long it will take for this technology to hit South Africa or maybe it is here already and I just didn't know about it. The internet speed and connections here are just plain shoddy. I bet if any of you had to come and work at my house you would throw your laptop out the window in frustration!
I am interested in acquiring anything that can make my connection faster. I recently had to ask my service provider to give me a 4 meg line instead of a 2 meg line because it was so slow I could barely work :(

I completely understand your position! It would be hard to get a foothold with the monopolies that most telecoms' have. Usually telecom is Government controlled by many aspects. Anyway, it was just a nice thought. Hey I have another thought! You should run for President of South Africa so you can institute better internet for the people!
