I have been thinking this for quite sometime. Can one succeed on ranking using one-word keyword?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I don’t know what you mean by succeed because it has various meanings. Anyway for the keyword to be effective I guess it has to be long-tailed which means it is a key phrase that consists of several words. An example is “car” which is a very general term that may not get you a ranking since a general term has too many competitors. But if you make it car-toyota-camry then that is more specific and you will have lesser competitors.
