    Keyword or keyphrase?

    Which do you feel is better to have? A single keyword or a keyphrase? I have seen both be successful. Myself, I happen to like keyphrases.

    Both should be better. Users I think uses key phrases when they search something online. And I think as SEO, I can get to rank better and faster if I use key phrases.

    Well, As per our SEO experience, key-phrases can be more beneficial than keywords.

    It depends, I prefer using keywords, one word, two words or 3 words max. Long tail keywords don't rank to good since panda update.

    A freelancing friend told me that the fewer keywords you use, the better because the crawlers are after the first few keywords only which means the rest of the keywords after the 3rd keyword will not have a value anymore with the search engines. But I disagree to that because when you do a search the search engines will check on all the keywords if it happens to reach your site. But maybe there is a point in having fewer keywords so as not to be accused of keyword stuffing.

    keyword phrase is always good if your website is new once you will have your keyword phrase on top then you can go for keyword as well... but keyword phrase not more than 3 words.

    Well a keyword can mean a single word or a series of words like a long tail word for example. Single keywords are usually the toughest to rank for but long tail keywords are often much easier to rank for because there isn't as much competition for them as there is single words.

    In the battle for keyword, I guess the keyphrase is more logical because it is difficult to be unique with a keyword. For example, my niche is pets, dogs in particular, so what unique keywords can I put in with an article about a birth of a puppy? Obviously, you have to use keyphrases just to be unique in your tagging. In my example, puppy is common likewise birth or even the breed of the dog. But how about labradorpuppy?
