server reached pm.max_children setting (70), consider raising it

I'm having 502 Gateway errors on my website from php-fpm. I look in the log at /var/etc/php-fpm.log and see this:

server reached pm.max_children setting (150), consider raising it

What does that mean? What should I do?

Hello,

Have you installed any scripts recently or got a lot of traffic? This is generally due to server requests, slow scripts, or low setting of max_children. However,I see your setting is high so i'd check your scripts to see if anything needs fixing. Check your error logs too.
