    I want to move my wordpress website to another server, how can I do so?

    I was using wordpress for long time in a free webhosting. But, I recently got a message from that they are now closing all their services and I have the time of only 17 days.
    I have now bought a hosting package and want to move my website to the new server. Can anybody teach me hw to move the site to new server without any data loss and the site will look as it is. Please help!

    First backup your files and move it to the new server. And import database file from old server and upload on new server database.
    Now make sure you have updated the wp-config.php file with new database info.

    I can do it for you. It's a few steps but i do all the time since I have my own server and I move people from server to server all the time.

    It's very hard to explain all the steps here. You can probably google it. or find a tutorial in youtube.

    Hey alfy, thank you very much for your kind help. I will copy all the files and database and will upload files to the new server and then will import database. And then will edit config file.

    Its simple

    First backup your SQL Database and WP Content folder

    Now Install WP in new host > Replace new WP Content folder by uploading old WP Content folder > Import SQL Database

    First step is to backup all your files, "this step is very crucial or you might lose all your data".
    Export your wordpress data base, this is a simple process all you need to do is just login to the cpanel account of your web server and open the phpmyadmin application, select the database that contains your WordPress installation from the list on the left hand sidebar and once selected click on the Export tab on the navigation menu. Before you merge your data to the new server, you must create a database where you can import all your data, for this open up the MySQL database and create a new database with an appropriate name for your website Create a new MySQL user (with a secure password). Add this user account to the new database and grant it All Privileges. after this just go ahead and edit you wpconfig.php files , then change the database name and password and finally start importing your backed up data and DONE ! Enjoy.
