What is "API info" on Setting Page?

Hi
In profile setting page, i found one section i.e. "API info",
it has Consumer Key & Consumer Secret.

i am not much sure about use of API, but i know that it is related with programming use......

What these things used for?
and when or where we can use those items?

Hi, these new API features are unavailable yet, The point of them being there is if you submitted them on a third party affiliate store the store will then be able to retrieve your data such as alerts, messages, balance and more making your experience on the store more awesome.

thanks jake for your answer,

i can program in ASP.NET and PHP very well, but i don't have any idea while dealing with API's(like login with facebook,google),
so if you have any valuable material/reference, will you please help me out by sending it to me...

Once these API features are released there should be a brief explanation / documentation of how to use them on the API page so I don't think you will have any issue using them.
