    I think submission to social directories can be equated to the building of backlinks because the posts that you do on such sites are also your backlinks. Correct me if I am wrong on my understanding because I am learning SEO methods and posting on social directories like Reddit and Pinterest can also yield you some traffic with the link that you have posted therein.
