How many of you list your site in the open directory?

I am just curious to see how many people with sites have them listed with the open directory. Did you submit the site yourself?

Are you referring to DMOZ?

Well, I submit most of my websites after a couple of months since I start them. But so far only 2 got accepted.

DMoz is a dead directory its very hard almost impossible to submit your site.

i am not a fond lover of Directory as now days there are nos. of Directory are there which are more often help in spamming that's the main reason that now Google SERP's Algo don't follow Directory Submission any more. so it is just Waste of time until directory is not related to your Local Country or Local City.

It's a tick list on most SEO check lists! To submit to the DMOZ directory. But it's not something you should rely on and wait for. There's no guarantee your site will be accepted and the receive so many submissions every day and only have so many people working on it. Plus as directories were hit in the SERPs a while back, they don't carry the same value as they used to carry. That's not to say they're useless. It's just that you need to be more selective and careful about which directory you submit to today. You should only submit to niche directories ideally that are connected and related to the niche or industry your website is in. And you should try to use different descriptions for each. Using the same directory description over and over again as some people do (because they're too lazy to write a new one) is never going to work as well as creating unique descriptions and will stick out like a soar thumb! You can say the same thing over and over again but change the description around a little each time so the same core message gets across only it's worded differently. It's possible to get the same core message across while still changing the message itself so you're not saying the same thing all the time.
