I wanted to ask you all on your own tips & tricks as to how you promote your Facebook page or get more followers / likes.

There are many ways to get more likes on Facebook. The best way is to post something new on your Facebook page at least once an hour while you are awake. This is preferred over posting a lot of messages on your page all at once. This will ensure you get more likes from more fans as your fans might be online at different times.

I have half a dozen facebook pages. In my experience, one of the easiest ways to promote your facebook page is by using boost feature, you can boost your page for as little as $1. You can build folowers and get likes through facebook advertising.
Another way to promote your facebook page is by promoting your facebook page on other platforms, for instance Twitter, Linkedin Google + etc. When you are promoting your page through facebook ad you should target to the proper audience (geography, age group, interest etc.)
You can also link your facebook page to your blog, website, and forum.
You can also promote your page through a signature on your email.

Creating a Facebook page is easy but getting followers and likers is hard. You need to reach out to Facebook users who would be interested in your page. Evaluate the theme of your page on what sector of people it would cater like is it for the youth or for the seniors, for the male or female? With that kind of evaluation, you will have an idea on whom to promote your page. Mere posting on your timeline does not guarantee to get followers. You have to be creative and at least you should know your target audience.

You can boost your page or posts by paying Facebook. But the best way of promoting your page is by creating and linking groups to your page.
