    How quickly will my pages be indexed after an SEO update?

    How many days or weeks will i need to wait after doing SEO work on my site, before my pages get indexed for the new keywords that I am optimizing for? Or, before the new pages/posts added will show up in search engines? Assuming the site is not brand new and there are other pages on site already indexed.

    That depends on how many links your site has and how well Google rates it. Also, is it an authority site?

    If you have a site that is constantly crawled by Google and other search engine bots, it shouldn't take long to update. Maybe 1-4 days. If you have a site that isn't often crawled and doesn't often get new content, it will take much longer.

    Amazingly, I can find new SEOClerks FAQs in Google search (when searching for a snippet) within a few hours after it's posted. And, possibly the Googlebot never leaves the site, so it always has fresh content to index.

    Are you sure that it takes less than a week for Google to update your site’s ranking? Doing SEO work on the site will yield results longer and there is no specific period when to see the effect because it depends on the search engine’s crawlers. We have to understand that crawlers have limitations too and it cannot do the crawling to all the sites that have updates. It really takes a longer time.

    Assuming the site is an already semi or fairly established site and presuming that site is being crawled often by Google via any do follow links you have to it, from organic traffic etc, and assuming you're using WordPress and you have automatic pinging to pingomatic in the Reading Settings page enabled which will ping the Google ping servers, then it can take a matter of seconds after you have posted that content for it to be indexed in Google. On very high authority sites that are constantly crawled many times a day then Google is going to see and crawl that content quickly, and subsequently be able to cache it and show it in its search results straight away for those keywords.

    However, getting crawled and indexed is one thing, getting ranked high for those keywords is another. If you're trying to target really high competition keywords (which you should be) then there's already going to be sites ranking high for those keywords. Google can only rank 1 site at the top for them and its usually either the site that had those keywords on them first or those that have the most SEO/authority. So your post with those keywords on might not show on the first page right away but if you're clever you can get it pretty high up in the top 100 surely!

    Here's a method I sometimes use to do that through sheer on-page SEO alone. What I'll do is do keyword research on my keywords that I want to target and rank high for and see who else is ranking high for them and why. Take each of the top 10 sites and look at and read everything they're saying or what they have on that site about those keywords. Take a while to study all the sites and digest everything in. Then after a while you'll be able to form a picture in your mind about what those sites have on them and maybe see why it is they're ranking for them through the content on those sites/pages alone. So take it all in, digest it and then regurgitate my own version of content for those keywords that had something better to offer than all of them do and covered all of the same points they all had about it but were different and put them all together into one killer piece of content that would have tons of content in it, pictures, widgets, links etc that would be better than all of them put together. I'd sometimes end up with around 3000+ words worth of content or more and it does take a lot of time and research although not exactly really hard and taxing and a pleasure to do if you know of the rewards doing it like that can bring.

    But that is quite simply what makes great content, keeps people on your site longer, gets more shares and has been a winning strategy for me on every ocassion I've used it as a content generation method. Sometimes not in top 10 right away but with some SEO it can. ;)

    Not long if you post new content often. If you went throw a period of inactivity it may take a little longer, like a couple of days.
    Be sure to ping every page after publishing, it will index faster this way.

    Yeah if you use WordPress this is (ping) done for you automatically every time you create a new post on your site. If you check the Writing settings page it should be set to ping pingomatic and that pings most of the top ping servers so is enough to do. Repeated pinging from the same IP for the same domain too many times can get your domain blocked for pinging in the future. A lot of people don't know this. Ping your content again after about a week and that's all you need to do really. After a week or 2 all your content on that page should be thoroughly indexed but it helps to build some good do follow links to it and social signals etc to get the spiders and people on it which breeds comment content.

    Maybe this is why everyone loves Wordpress so much as the links are always so easily indexed by Google. You have really good search engine optimization tools built right into the content management system. Also, I like what you said about comment content, amazing to think how comments can keep a page alive with new content even years after the original post - even like this one. How quickly will my pages be indexed after an SEO update?

    just Use RSS feeds and Submit to RSS Feeders for fast Indexing apart from that linklicious submit can also give benefit to you as your page is crawled once atleast using that. and don't forget to ping again and again

    Interesting sharrx! I know this was posted 4 years ago but is that something you would still recommend doing today? You mention submitting to "RSS Feeders". Is that something you would still do today? If so, can you mention or recommend any RSS Feeders to me? There are quite a few RSS feed submission services on SEOClerks, they don't look like they get that many orders for it but it is something you can do yourself if you really want. And you mention using linklicious as well on your own site? Your money site? Just curious! How quickly will my pages be indexed after an SEO update?

    And another thing, about pinging, it's not a good idea to keep pinging your own site over and over again and again. You will get your IP blocked and possibly even your domain for ping spam if you do it too much!

    Whenever I do a search on Google for something SEO related, I find things popping up all the time in RSS feed sites online. It seems like even years later, people are using these techniques.

    That depends on how many associations your locate has and how well Google tariff it. Also, is it an authority locate?
    If you be inflicted with a locate with the intention of is constantly crawled by Google and other search engine bots, it shouldn't take long to bring up to date. Maybe 1-5 days. If you be inflicted with a locate with the intention of isn't often crawled and doesn't often make extra content, it will take much longer.

    You'd be surprised! What might seem simple to you because you know how, isn't so simple to other people that don't know how. Pinging is one way of telling a crawler there is new content to crawl and index but that doesn't even guarantee that it will actually crawl it. The still can decide not to or set a date in the future too depending on how much resources it has available at that time.

    This is a very refreshing discussion because I have learned a lot in terms of SEO update. For a while, I thought that it takes an indefinite period for the SEO work to take effect. But in this discussion, it seems to take only days for the keywords to be considered by Google. I have to admit that I am still confused with the SEO methods that I have been learning but I will probably catch on the entire concept soon.
