What role does the Zagat score play with local SEO?

I was reading online somewhere that if you want to rank better for local searches, you should improve your Zagat score. Can someone explain to me what a Zagat score is and what would need to be done to improve it?

Zagat Score or Zagat's ratings and reviews are based on the opinions of regular people, like you, who come to Zagat.com to share their experiences about the exceptional establishments they visit throughout the year. For restaurants, users separately rate the Food, Decor and Service on a 0-3 point scale (0 = fair/poor, 1 = good, 2 = very good, 3 = excellent). These ratings are averaged and presented on Zagat’s 30-point scale. Diners are also asked to share witty and insightful comments about their experiences, which our editors curate into concise reviews that help users make quick and informed decisions.

Google took a big risk when it converted its entire local search/review system to a largely unfamiliar 30-point rating scale. Consumers are familiar with five-point (or five-star) rating scales — that is been used to rate movies, music, books, products and much more. Most importantly, Google review authors were comfortable with seeing five-point/star ratings on Google, not to mention on popular local sites like Yelp, Bing and Yahoo Local.

The Zagat rating is like the mark of excellence for your business as determined by your customers and is derived by averaging the number of stars given by reviewers on Google Local.

When your local customers have left at least ten reviews for you on Google local, your Zagat score will be shown as a rich snippet by your local search engine listing next to your business name. And, typically your score will appear next to a link of your local reviews on Google.

Most people assume that a high Zaggat score such as 30 will also equal a better rank for local search. If this is true, then a high Zagat score will result in more clicks on your link by local users as your listing will be higher than others.
